The most beautiful parks and gardens Northwest

Peter the Great had a shipyard built here in 1704, but an attack by the Swedes led to the fortification of the yard and its transformation into a fortress surrounded by ramparts and a canal. The Admiralty became a place to stroll in the 19th century when the ramparts were destroyed and the canal filled in to make way for a grand boulevard and a garden that extends over an area of 9 hectares leading to the north façade of the Saint-Isaac Cathedral.

This botanical garden is unique in its location and in the species it contains. In addition to the vegetable varieties in the region, it contains species originating throughout Russia and elsewhere, as well as tropical greenhouses. Furthermore, this place is very pleasant to walk in summer. A small museum is located at the entrance to the park.

A delicious and warmly recommended place for a walk in the greenery in the heart of the city. Founded in 1714 by order of Peter the Great, the botanical garden is particularly beautiful in spring and autumn. The greenhouses are interesting, but you will especially appreciate the park, with its paths and lawns where you can settle down. On 16 May (city festival), the gates are open in the evening for a night walk.

The magnificent Orangery transported from Tsarskoye Selo was installed in the Tauride Garden in 1935. This lush island, as if in an eternal summer, is today one of the favourite cultural places of the locals. Equipped with numerous artistic spaces, the Orangery organizes concerts, a festival of ambient electronic music, Abstrasentsia (abstrasension.ru), as well as conferences. During the day, you can enjoy the peace and quiet of its charming Orangery café and flower shop.
