This restaurant is located in an old post office agency dating back to the th century. A large winter garden surrounds it and hosts a terrace in summer. In winter, you can eat on old tables near three beautiful chimneys and light candles. Try the duck magret stuffed with foie gras, specialty of the Lomellina (region southwest of Milan, see heading "La Lomellina"). Among the specialities not to be missed are the risotto with champagne and green pepper, the penne with tomatoes, spices, olives, pancetta... and to finish a sweet note with the homemade tiramisù and its fresh fruits. The restaurant has its own small organic garden nearby, to maximize the use of fresh, local and seasonal produce.

Al Frate is a bit like the historical brewery of Brescia, characteristic in its decoration and in its cuisine which excels in regional specialities. Although the quality of the food is not to be blamed, it is a pity that the service is sometimes a little slow. It is therefore better not to be in a hurry. The cutting boards of cold meats and cheeses are excellent, with quality products. The osso buco is to be tried, it's a real delight! And the plates, in addition to being appetizing, are well stocked. Nice service

In the purest Neapolitan tradition! The atmosphere is very lively around the large wooden fire, where an army of pizzaioli hastens to manufacture and cook the pizza you chose on a very long list.

Located in the heart of Vigevano, on the first floor of an old palace, this contemporary bistro has turned the page on the past to offer trendy, designer cuisine and surroundings. A fine selection of bottles behind the counter, the menu features traditional Lombardy recipes creatively revisited, with goose(oca) taking pride of place. Other specialties include risotto, duck with orange sauce and a delicious sbrisolona tart. A welcoming and convivial atmosphere, which in season takes up residence on the beautiful terrace.

A surprising shop-brewery-restaurant where the objective is only one: to honour Italian gastronomy in all its states. Since 1999, Visini has been combining a catering area with a pastry shop, a well-stocked wine cellar, a chic but sporty brasserie and a gourmet restaurant. The quality of the service is irreproachable and small originalities, such as theme evenings around an ingredient, make it an address to be missed under no circumstances. At the entrance to Robecco, here's an address that for years has been very happy with the appetites of big and small. The specialities of Milanese cuisine are served in a very "Sunday meal" atmosphere. Start with a plate of affettati (local mixed charcuterie), to continue with fresh homemade pasta for asparagus, mushrooms, cheese and truffle. If you prefer meat, you will never be disappointed by the classics, including the Milanese porkchops, served with its small diced tomatoes. 

Always crowded, the Bologna has long attracted a local clientele that goes there for traditional Bolognese dishes in a beautiful setting. It's not a local restaurant, but the ingredients are tasty, the portions are plentiful and it's one of the only places in the center of Varese where you can eat well and for a reasonable price. As far as accommodation is concerned, it is a little more impersonal. However, the hotel's rooms can be used for one or two nights.

Here's a downtown trattoria with plenty of character. In the brick-arched dining room, tables with quaint checkered tablecloths, a grand piano, violins everywhere and a large portrait of Giuseppe Verdi. And after the tribute to music, it's the local culinary tradition that's celebrated: polenta with boletus mushrooms, Cremona cured meats, bollito and its mostarda and, to finish, a fine selection of cakes.

An address launched by two Milanese hipsters with a passion for New York street-food. In a very underground setting, we sit down to bite into burgers and American-style maxi-steaks. Among the cult dishes, the Deli Fried Chicken Burger with fried chicken and the Beyond Veggie Burger (based on "vegetable" meat for vegetarians), fries and mutton chops with barbecue sauce. Special mention for the potato and sesame bread buns. A gastronomic address made in Usa.

This is one of the most sensational addresses in the Milanese restaurant business. Not only is the Giacomo's team (famous gastronomic sign of Via Pasquale Sottocorno) in charge of the ovens, but its setting is certainly unbeatable: the terrace of the Museum del Novecento overlooking Piazza del Duomo. The meals are exquisite, the service impeccable and the view unobstructed. A small sitting room and the counter are available for those who would like an aperitif, served with small fried vegetables and fruits of the forest to peck at.

This is the oldest fishmonger's shop in Milan! Since 1935, a good part of the seafood has been arriving on the table of the Milanese, first through the Pescheria Spadari. It is now possible to enjoy shellfish and crustaceans, but also fried fish, lemon grills and risotto with prawns, on the go at noon, on the few tables or at the counter between the iced displays where the fish are displayed. The Fish Burger is a great success, replacing meat with a tuna, salmon or swordfish burger.
