Former sommelier, then restaurant manager, Jocelyn Desbands knows the world of gastronomy and wine well. After 13 years at the head of the Nicolas boutique in Saint-Raphaël, he has been working on his own since spring 2012. He offers a range of carefully selected products and provides personalized advice. His expertise translates into a permanent search for nested products, discovered during trips to meet atypical and renowned winemakers. He also organizes numerous wine evenings.

This new wine cellar arrived unexpectedly in December 2022, but once you've stepped through the door, it lives up to all its promises. At the helm is Maxime Agostini, a young wine enthusiast who left the region for a few years to work in the capital, where he honed his wine knowledge, and returned to Marseille to realize his dream of opening his own wine cellar. In the gourmet halls of the Marché de la Gare, it's here at Avitus that you'll find the grand cru or the confidential domaine, little marvels and rarities for your food and wine pairings, as well as champagnes and spirits (excellent whiskies and rums in particular). Here is the reference wine merchant of the district in the middle of the Vauban boom (another play on occasional words). Clean decoration and wine bottles placed on wooden crates, we come here to taste the best grape varieties and appreciate the wise advice of the mistress of the place, Sophie. Let yourself be guided by the wine for each occasion. Specific aperitifs and tastings are organised regularly, providing an opportunity to immerse yourself in the life of the district and meet its neighbours. In summer, you can enjoy the beautiful terrace in front of the shop, giving a pretty village air to this already appreciated district.

You may push the door of the Cellier du Castel to buy a good bottle of wine from France or elsewhere and you will not be disappointed by the choice. But you will undoubtedly come back to taste one of the vintages offered by the house, when the cellar is transformed into a wine bar. Indeed, on Friday and Saturday evenings, you can savour the wines selected by the team, while eating tapas or finely matured cheeses, and enjoying musical or literary entertainment, depending on the context.

Elegant wine shop located near the intersection of Boulevard Périer and Rue Paradis. The space is not very large but the choice is there. A small delicatessen corner to complete a nice selection of French, Italian, Spanish red wines but also very good rosé wines for the summer. From time to time, events are organized to present this or that grape variety in the spotlight, the sidewalk is then taken over by the fine palates invited for the occasion.
