CAVE AGOSTINI

This new wine cellar arrived unexpectedly in December 2022, but once you've stepped through the door, it lives up to all its promises. At the helm is Maxime Agostini, a young wine enthusiast who left the region for a few years to work in the capital, where he honed his wine knowledge, and returned to Marseille to realize his dream of opening his own wine cellar. The advice is expert, with a pleasantly relaxed tone. A fine selection of regional, French and foreign wines. In an unusual move for Marseille, Maxime Agostini sells quite a few Greek wines, having specialized in the field for several years. An opportunity to make new discoveries. As well as wine, spirits and champagne.

GIGONDAS LACAVE – LES VIGNERONS DE GIGONDAS

Wine Cellar Wine House
4.7/5

Founded in 1956, the cellar brings together winegrowers at the head of more than 150 hectares of vines. At the cellar, they will advise you on how to taste the wines, such as the reds that make the reputation of the appellation. The cellar also produces a rosé, as well as a Muscat de Beaumes-de-Venise "Terre Blonde" which can be served as an aperitif or with dessert. But beware, the cellar is not satisfied with its sales activity, it also offers wine tourism services.

The Virgile Cellar is run by the sommelier Virgile Zibolt who worked in starred establishments before settling in Tholonet. He has selected for you wines from the French terroir and in particular small producers, as well as champagnes produced by small harvesters. A wide range of whiskies and rums is also available. You have a choice in a very reasonable price range, about sixty bottles from all regions at less than 10 €. Winegrowers come to present their wines; targeted tastings for customers. In the gourmet halls of the Marché de la Gare, it's here at Avitus that you'll find the grand cru or the confidential domaine, little marvels and rarities for your food and wine pairings, as well as champagnes and spirits (excellent whiskies and rums in particular). You'll also benefit from the expert advice of Arnaud de la Chanonie and his wife Isabelle. At Avitus, you can choose from hundreds of references! Last but not least, regional wines dominate, of course, but are not exclusive.

LA SOURCE

Caviste

The new address for wine lovers, more precisely for natural and living wines. A very small, well laid out, uncluttered space, a few industrial shelves with dozens of good references of well-grown and tasty wines. The advice of the house will be able to direct you according to your tastes and preferences. The prices are a little higher than elsewhere but the selection is scrupulous, the references only of quality. Some grocery products on sale to accompany your bottles of wine. A really nice address putting the boulevard Chave a little more on the map of Marseille wines.

In the pretty wooden racks of this cellar, you will find a range of wines from well-known local estates, but also nectars from all over France and champagnes. Also on the premises, local products: Provencal specialities, products from the South-West and Iberian charcuterie... Note that on Friday evening, from 5:30 pm, and on Saturday morning, from 10 am, the Cave des saveurs organizes a wine tasting to highlight a domain, an appellation or even a wine region. We love it and we recommend it!

Semi-finalist in the 2016 Best Cellarman competition organised by the French Cellarman's Union, Alexandre Pichon selects for you the best wines from France and elsewhere. He favours wines from small producers at affordable prices, but also offers a few rarities, which are highly prized. As for champagnes, a stratospheric selection, from small producers to great vintages. There is a very good selection of spirits, including about 70 references of rums and about fifty whiskies. LES CANONS DE VAUBAN

Caviste

The pun is really well thought out. Congratulations Sophie for this creativity! Here is the reference wine merchant of the district in the middle of the Vauban boom (another play on occasional words). Clean decoration and wine bottles placed on wooden crates, we come here to taste the best grape varieties and appreciate the wise advice of the mistress of the place, Sophie. Let yourself be guided by the wine for each occasion. Specific aperitifs and tastings are organised regularly, providing an opportunity to immerse yourself in the life of the district and meet its neighbours. In summer, you can enjoy the beautiful terrace in front of the shop, giving a pretty village air to this already appreciated district.

CELLIER DU CASTEL

Caviste

You may push the door of the Cellier du Castel to buy a good bottle of wine from France or elsewhere and you will not be disappointed by the choice. But you will undoubtedly come back to taste one of the vintages offered by the house, when the cellar is transformed into a wine bar. Indeed, on Friday and Saturday evenings, you can savour the wines selected by the team, while eating tapas or finely matured cheeses, and enjoying musical or literary entertainment, depending on the context.

LES CAVES DE DELIBES

Caviste

Elegant wine shop located near the intersection of Boulevard Périer and Rue Paradis. The space is not very large but the choice is there. A small delicatessen corner to complete a nice selection of French, Italian, Spanish red wines but also very good rosé wines for the summer. From time to time, events are organized to present this or that grape variety in the spotlight, the sidewalk is then taken over by the fine palates invited for the occasion. Note that a very nice and wide range of bubbles is on sale here, champagnes and crémants, ideal for parties and any special occasion. Olivier's advice is wise and sharp. Some wines are organic.
