Thanks to the diversity of its cultural offerings, the Off, an alternative festival created in 1963 by André Benedetto, is one of the largest festivals of independent companies in the world. It transforms the city - suspended signs, flyers with catchy words, acrobats competing with imagination to bait the barge. Companies come and go from far and wide. Everything is conducive to theatrical gesticulations: improbable places arranged (garage, corridors, barge ... but also disused school and gymnasium).

Here, in open skies, the 2013 edition featured the plays of Marc Camoletti, Xavier Duranger, Philippe Claudel, Farcical, Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt, and the Chopin music, the comic opera Marseille my love, a lyric concert, El Botcho… An enchantment! Take a leap two thousand years back in time, this is what the Arelate association proposes with its festival organized every year, in August, in the "Little Rome of Gaul". For a week, the city lives to the rhythm of the Roman cohorts marching, gladiatorial fights and street shows. For its third edition, the Garden Festival invites visitors to discover the French Riviera on a dreamlike journey along the fragrant paths of "artists' gardens", the theme this year. In Antibes, Cannes, Grasse, Menton and Nice, as well as in Monaco, numerous events are organized and no less than thirteen landscape creations will be competing for one of the seven prizes awarded. Nature lovers will also appreciate the ephemeral gardens outside the competition in Cap d'Ail, Mandelieu-La Napoule and Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat.
