It is one of the best restaurants on the island, housed in an old schoolhouse built in 1876. The menus are creative, and feature both meat and fish, with the permanent presence of a vegetarian dish. The whole is cooked with great care, for studied flavours that hit the spot. The presentation is distinguished and the room takes on a certain elegance, thanks to its red colours and wooden materials. Please remember to book in season, as places are limited and the restaurant is in great demand.

Local, fresh and skilfully cooked products are the strong point of this Carbost gastro-pub, not far from the Talisker Distillery. In the small room of a waterfront house, you can choose between fish & chips, haggis, fish of the day, Highland steak, vegetable pasta, or several good burgers, not forgetting the excellent sticky toffee pudding for dessert. The good beers are also there and the whole thing is very successful.

Located within the Royal Hotel, this central pub has a traditional setting with a fireplace, benches and a nice bar, where a few beers are served. The menu is simple but effective, thanks to its pizzas, burgers and fish & chips. You can enjoy the view of the seafront, the friendly atmosphere and the simplicity of the place, which lends itself perfectly to an outing with friends, after a day of excursions. For something a little classier, but also more expensive, the neighbouring Harbour View Grille is run by the same team.

This beautiful little pub is nestled in the shadow of the castle. In 1700, it was a drinking establishment and regained its original vocation in the 1990s. The food is as excellent as it is typical and its selection of beers has earned it the recognition of CAMRA. The Victorian setting is charming and the bar on the ground floor is separate from the restaurant upstairs. The wooden counter is surrounded by sports and city photos and the terrace is very pleasant. We come here for a nice meal as well as a pint.

A pub, café and restaurant, the Drouthy Cobber is organized around a long contemporary room where salads, burgers, brunches, snacks and tasty breakfasts are served. All the products come from the Speyside, a rich pantry that offers tasty culinary possibilities between excellent meats, daily seafood and nearby market gardeners. On the drinks side, there are always at least three real ales and a huge choice of single malts. Musical events are often organized.

This small pub on the banks of the canal offers a simple but effective menu, based on fresh, seasonal produce and with plenty of choice. The usual fish & chips, magpies, burgers and steaks are all there, but there are also sandwiches for less at lunchtime. You can eat there all day long, either in the main bar or upstairs in the restaurant area, which overlooks the Caledonian canal. It is even possible, in good weather, to sit outside to admire the boats passing through the locks.

With both British and French influences, Doll's House aims to deliver the best of national products, from the land to the plate. Its beautiful stone house hides a room where comfort and tradition are combined, with old exposed beams and thick benches. The menu includes Shetland salmon, rabbit pie, leek and potato pie, Perthshire lamb and beef from local farms.

Fished on the coast of the Kingdom of Fife, the fish served here is fresh and delicious. Offering the freshest and tastiest fish is their credo. Fish & chips is of course the speciality, but there are other choices with salads, langoustines, mussels, salmon, burgers and even tacos, as well as vegetarian and gluten-free suggestions. The room is sober and quite elegant. It is possible to take away for a small fee.

This gastro-pub has an unshakeable reputation in Orkney, thanks to its good traditional cuisine and the real ales that accompany it. Located in a small white house facing the port, it is named after the warrior Helgi, a Viking hero of the local folklore. The interior is very typical, with big slabs on the floor and a wooden bar. Here you can enjoy burgers, curries, fish & chips and pasta, among others, in good portions. You can also come just for a drink. Attention: under 18 years old are not accepted.

Café 52 has a concrete reputation in the granite city! It has become a highly sought-after gastronomic establishment. Its small, long mineral room is quickly filled by regulars who come to empty plates of mackerel with beets, Guinness beef, vegetarian lasagna, smoked haddock or chicken with zucchini. Chefs are constantly creating new dishes, using local products. For dessert, Mrs. B's sweets are in the spotlight, all in poetry and delicacy. It is best to book in the evening.

The beautiful dark wood room is a perfect setting for this well-kept and much appreciated establishment, by locals and visitors alike. The food here is raw to perfection, with haggis, Loch Etive trout, Scrabster hake, Portmahomack pork and Black Isle sheep. The staff is smiling and the content of the plates is irreproachable. The wine list is international, with an original selection, made to surprise the taste buds.

An Lanntair is a cultural complex where the café creates simple but effective food, with good small dishes inspired by the island's terroir. There are burgers, pasta, salads and fish & chips, but also some inventive specialities from day to day. You can come here in the morning for breakfast. The large contemporary room is ideal for a coffee or a pastry at any time of the day. Take the opportunity to discover the current exhibitions.

In a beautiful room where wood and red shades dominate, Shieling enjoys a great reputation in Gairloch. We eat burgers, sandwiches, baked potatoes for lunch, and fish, meat, magpies and omelettes in the evening. Everything is sourced locally, to give the plate the best of Scotland. A friendly and affordable wine list completes the menu. The result is good and copious, in a warm atmosphere. A lounge and bar area is also available where tea, coffee, pastries and other drinks and snacks are served.

Peet's honours local producers in its large, modern and airy hall. Its tasty cuisine brews up a wide variety of salads, fish, meat and vegetarian dishes. The menu is deliberately short, but does justice to the seafood direct from the fishing port (50 m away), but also to the know-how of local farmers with excellent meats. The road alone is worth the trip and should whet your appetite, with its beautiful views of the Kyle of Tongue and the mountains. The Craggan hotel works with excellent local cuisine, with meats such as pigeon, beef, pork, duck and chicken, but also salmon, haddock, scallops and vegetarian dishes. There are sandwiches and ciabattas for lunch for a quicker meal. The room is pretty and the service is excellent.

The excellent Arch Inn is a gastro-pub which is organized around a bar and a restaurant part, at the end of a small inner courtyard. The atmosphere is lively and the mercury rises quickly with the rush in summer. The food honours the local terroir, with cullen skink, fish & chips, burgers, meat and fish. Some good beers spice things up, including some from An Teallach Brewery, not far away on Little Broom Loch. The hotel is also a popular hotel with 10 en-suite rooms.

This burger pub does not yet have the reputation of the Holyrood 9A in Old Town, but it has made a name for itself in New Town. Fajita, Australian, Camembert, Cajun and Halloumi are among its wide range, but you can prefer meat or salad. The Cambridge's second pride is its beers and its passion for sport. The interior is well arranged and there is a fireplace. No more children after 8:00.

On horseback between New Town and West End, there is a small walkway from Queensferry Road. The quiet terrace is a treat and the surrounding area is located there all day to eat or drink a blow. Employees of all ages and young people, as well as pensioners, enjoy getting there to enjoy successful Scottish cuisine in a contemporary and pleasant setting. This delicious deli puts the best Scottish produce on the plate for a low-cost lunch or snack. On site and to take away, the cuisine is excellent and lovers of fine food will linger on the teas, coffees and breads. The service is served with a big smile in a beautiful, bright space full of kitchen utensils and paintings by local artists. Soup of the day, various sandwiches, small selection of dishes (with very good smoked salmon), rolls: you will find something to eat. The coffee is also very good.

Just a stone's throw from the Stuart Palace, this friendly pub of the Belhaven franchise is located in the centre of Linlithgow. It is almost as old as its neighbour, since it was built around 1500. It has been able to retain many of its old features, while adding a decidedly cosy touch. We serve classic, no-nonsense food at low prices, indoors or in the beer garden. The selection of 8 cask ales is also very good, and the selection of 70 whiskies, 45 gins and 18 rums particularly appreciable.

Marmions is a family run Scottish bistro where colourful paintings watch over the panelled room. On the plate, the terroir is to its advantage, with pork, chicken, venison, fish or risotto for vegetarians. For lunch, sandwiches allow you to have lunch on the go, but always with a Scottish touch (haggis sandwich, caramelized onions and cheddar, or Scottish smoked salmon sandwich), and always with the soup option. The children's dishes will delight families. It is also available at breakfast or tea time.

Légèrement Inn is located at the western exit of Callander, in the place Kilmahog. There are some other good addresses in the centre, but it also has the advantage of being a renowned pub serving its own beers. The menu is in the image of the atmosphere: genuine and Scottish. Music groups occur most on Saturdays, as well as Fridays in season.

This is the heart of the small village of Aberfoyle. Both pub and restaurant, it is very popular with locals on its large terrace and many real Scottish ales, especially from the islands. Amateurs will enjoy ordering three 1/3 a pint to vary the pleasures. On the ground, carpet with tartan motifs and large stone slabs respond to the time photos and underneath glasses adorning the walls to create an entirely traditional atmosphere. The food pub is excellent and you can only recommend the rich fish & chips, which is perfectly cooked.

Set in an early 17th century hotel, this popular pub offers classic Scottish food. The first part of the establishment is reserved for the bar and there are some paintings of local scenes. The restaurant is at the back and is furnished with lots of light wood and a veranda. A good address for a beer, as for a meal, since everything here is local, fresh and home-cooked. A beer garden welcomes you in fine weather. The establishment, very lively, broadcasts matches and sports competitions.

The Crown Inn is the favourite pub of the locals for eating and drinking. The menu is quite varied, with great classics such as fish & chips or cheese pasta, but also meats, burgers and even pizzas. The decoration is very Scottish and the atmosphere is as friendly as it is local. Beer lovers won't be outdone either. Indeed, the establishment was nominated by Lanarkshire's CAMRA Pub of the Year 2016, regional winner 2017 for West & Glasgow and was a finalist for the Great British Pub Awards in 2019.

Within the Gaiety Theatre, here is a restaurant a little more sophisticated than what Ayr has to offer, to eat well at any time of the day. You come here for breakfast as well as for lunch or dinner and the menu mixes influences, not forgetting its Scottish roots. Everything is homemade, with rigorously selected local products, all served in generous portions. The menu changes regularly and the atmosphere remains relaxed, in a refined decoration, with a very friendly staff.

A friendly pub and hub of local life, the Bannockburn Inn is as good a bar as it is a restaurant and offers two different spaces, depending on whether you come for a meal or a drink. It was opened in May 2011 by Andy Fordham, a former world darts champion! The food is traditional Scottish and there are always a few real ales on the counter, as well as a huge selection of whiskies from around the country. Music lovers will be spoilt for choice with the authentic jukebox and its 10,000 song memory. Cheers!

Recently landed in Fort William, Garrison West has shaken up the local culinary scene with its excellent, modern and tasty pub food. The place is a bit set back from the main street and still a little less overgrown than all its neighbours, which only reinforces its traditional atmosphere. There are also some good beers, whiskies and gins. The place is perfect to come and have a drink at the end of the day and get over your emotions with a good, hearty dish and all the gourmet things you need.

The culinary experience is assured by its vibrant flavours and perfect mastery of ingredients, tastes and textures. It is particularly inventive and uses excellent local products. Correct posture is preferable. The establishment is also a top-of-the-range hotel, perfect for a romantic getaway!

In the shadow of the distillery, this cosy gastro-pub cooks great Scottish classics such as fish & chips, magpies, burgers and steaks. There are also salads and sandwiches for lighter options and all can be accompanied by good local beers. The dishes are made from local products, chosen as soon as possible on Mull. The bread is delivered every morning by the baker in Tobermory. There is sometimes live music and you can also just come and have a drink, in the dining room or in the garden beer.

The Kitchin opened its doors in 2006 and has been winning awards ever since. Tom Kitchin, his starred chef, was a pupil of Alain Ducasse, and his French-inspired dishes are made with the best Scottish local produce. The philosophy of the house is "from nature to the plate", so it's not surprising that the attention paid to the raw material ensures a real culinary epic. The frame is very mineral and combines shades of grey, blue and brown. Menus change according to the seasons.

One address, two concepts: on the ground floor, the café area opens from breakfast and offers a trendy and wooded setting, typical of brunch establishments. Upstairs, the bar area offers a more bistro and nocturnal atmosphere under the roofs of the building. The cuisine is Scottish, but also Mediterranean and international, with salads, meats, haggis, pasta, Greek dishes and pizzas (only at the bar). Gandolfi has also opened an excellent fish restaurant right next door, which also has a take-away section.

Run by the same family since 1996, the Fiddler's is an institution in the village. Its beautiful flowered facade and its large terrace are unmistakable, preceding a room that could not be more typical and faithful to tradition. The good dishes honour the national terroir, both meat and fish, and are beautifully cooked. The bar has an endless supply of single malts and some goodreal ales. The same owners also have a B&B: Oakdale Rooms, located nearby.

Young atmosphere, rather chic and trendy, but very relaxed in this big Victorian house. We come here to have a good time. At noon, a simple menu with salads, hamburgers, fish & chips and pasta dishes. In the evening, the menu changes and offers more elaborate dishes. The establishment is also a hotel: it reopened in 2020 after expansion work and offers elegant, modern and very comfortable rooms.

It is hidden behind Princes Street, away from the tourist life. Original decorative elements (dating from 1862) have been preserved, in particular the mosaics recounting moments of life in the 19th century. Seafood has been enjoyed within these walls since Victorian times! Among other fish dishes and beautiful seafood dishes, the house's specialty remains oysters, served fresh on its bed of ice, with lemon. One of the most beautiful pubs in Edinburgh and in that respect, it deserves a break!

The Brasserie Prince is located within the walls of the superb Balmoral. Held by Alain Roux, a chef whose reputation is well established, he offers a marriage of French and English tradition. We recommend the exceptional haggis revisited here with a whiskey sauce and presented with the greatest care, for a culinary experience without equal. The less adventurous will also enjoy a selection that combines the traditions of both countries and highlights the richness of the Scottish soil.

This Royal Mile gastro pub no longer has its reputation for whisky thanks to an impressive menu! You can even taste them four by four, with 14 different formulas to get started or to assert yourself. The food is also greeted and sourced locally, thanks to a menu that features several Scottish classics and burgers. The decoration displays molded woodwork and bottle displays, providing a cosy setting, enhanced by a little background music. In the evening, groups perform live every day of the week, in front of a regular and tourist clientele.

This restaurant will put stars in your eyes. The dishes are exquisitely fine and generous. No doubt it is the passion of Ian McAndrew, the multi-award winning chef of the establishment, and his undeniable talent for sublimating local products? The smoked salmon is an explosion of flavour, the Angus beef is incredibly tender? If you had to give an address where to discover Scottish-style gastronomy, it would undoubtedly be this one!

The woodwork and candles give an undeniable charm to this bar-restaurant in Leith which comes alive on Tuesday and Thursday evenings with the presence of folk and jazz musicians. Chic without making a fuss, this is the address to go to for a good meal at a reasonable price in the area. You can enjoy beautiful meats and seafood - the establishment is renowned for its shellfish and fish - but some people just prefer to have a drink and enjoy the conviviality of the place. Book in the evening to make sure you have a table.

It is one of the most popular events in the city, openly adored by all. In 40 years, Ubiquitous Chip has had plenty of time to carve out a niche for itself on the Scottish culinary scene. Its dishes are from the national soil and you can find the unmistakable haggis, but also fish, pork, beef, pheasant, or mussels, among the multitude of the offer. The environment is very vegetal, with many plants between the white tablecloths. The brasserie menu is more accessible than the restaurant menu.

This large, modern and trendy restaurant offers very good value for money at lunchtime and in the early evening. Its room is very colourful, with bright red and yellow tones. The paintings on the walls are reminiscent of the Fauve and Cubic movements and there is a mezzanine floor and a balcony terrace overlooking the Ness River. One will see the Highlands, the other the castle. The whole thing is quite elegant and the cuisine is a success, with classic dishes of Scottish gastronomy skillfully prepared. The music is atmospheric and the service is excellent.

A few steps from the castle, a worrying crest announces the colour: The Witchery was the seat of Edinburgh's witchcraft in the 16th century. And whether you choose the main room or the Secret Garden, the esotericism oozes from the walls and the decoration hits the nail on the head. Today, magic works in the mouths and many people are curious and gourmet to hurry, especially in the evening, when dinner can be served until late. It is preferable to make a reservation. For a tighter budget or a sweet palate, think of the Afternoon teas and their share of delicacies!

Leith's Michelin star list also includes Martin Wishart and his eponymous restaurant. Here, we seek subtlety and finesse to sublimate each flavour from the four corners of Scotland, all with the claimed inspiration of French gastronomy. The result is of course wonderful and the service is impeccable. White tablecloths and presentation are drawn with four pins, in a soft and simple decor.

Adorable deep green front, wallpaper adorned with roses, comfortable lounge and so british porcelain trinkets, there is here a cosy decor and full of humour in its way of revisiting the aesthetics of grannies. Brunch is the house speciality, but she also concocts typical Scottish dishes and gourmet desserts. The bar side is more classic and fills up in the evening. To be tested: the "cocktail pots" for cocktails in a "pot" (teapot). The site regularly hosts exhibitions of local artists and creative craftsmen.

To the south of the city stands this small establishment on the waterfront.
