When to go dans les Hauts-de-France ?
Even if the sun sometimes makes itself scarce, the conviviality is always there. And to add to the warm atmosphere, there are plenty of events to choose from! The Lille Braderie, the Dunkirk Carnival, the Art et Jardin festival in Amiens... the year is full of highlights. From winter carnivals to summer festivals (Main Square, Minuit avant la nuit, Pic'Arts...) and Christmas markets, there's something for everyone. All that's left is to choose your moment!
The Hauts-de-France are subject to an oceanic climate that is affected by altitude, the orientation of the slopes, the plain areas and above all the distance from the coast. On the coasts, the oceanic character is very marked: low temperature ranges, mild winters, cool summers. The influence of wind direction, frequent and sometimes violent, is sensitive. Away from the coast, there is less wind, greater temperature differences between the high and low seasons and more days of frost and snow.
When to go to Hauts-de-France ? As the region is located in the North, if you want warmth and sunshine, choose a stay in summer, the only time when you are (almost) guaranteed the clouds will be fleeting. You will share the tourist sites in summer with the Belgians and, all year round, with the British who come as neighbors. The Opal Coast and the region ofArras with its citadel are the most touristic; if you want to be quiet, plan your stay outside the school vacations. The Chemin des Dames is also a high tourist spot as well as the cathedrals of Amiens and Beauvais. Numerous cultural events take place throughout the year in the Hauts-de-France, around cinema, but also comics and music. The great festival not to be missed is the Dunkirk carnival, three days of madness around Mardi Gras.

Discover les Hauts-de-France
The north of the country is full of surprises! You have, in the trees, huts to lodge and accrobranches for thrills. You can visit the workshop of a wooden toy maker and meet a camel driver and his camels for an unusual caravan, discover the country of Maroilles cheese and Chimey beer in a 2CV. But also visit a fairy garden, a sculpture garden, the confectionery house and the small waffle museum in a house where waffles are made with vergoise, chicory, violet and even Wambrechies whisky! Another thing? L'arbre à poule, an eco-place in the Oise, the Frontinelles boat elevator on the Neuffossé canal (Arques), the Maison des phares in Le Touquet-Paris-Plage, the Hortillonnages museum (Rivery). Finally, you can sleep in a hobbit village (Somme) among other unusual accommodations in Hauts-de-France.
