1 review

The Majestic Passy, which belongs to the network Les Screens du Cinéma, orne the heart of the 16 th arrondissement. It's the only cinema in the neighborhood. Opened in 1930, it was first called Royal Passy and then Broadway. The economic difficulties encountered led to the closure of the cinema in 1982, which was replaced by a fur store. He reintroduced in 1994 with three modern rooms, including the large room equipped with a panoramic screen of 13 meters. Popular and subtitled films are available every week. A bar is also available. Finally, many meetings are organized, but also conferences and meetings for people with disabilities.

L’ACCATTONE

Cinma dart et essais

1 review

Welcome to the temple of real art lovers, between cinema students and nostalgic for modern cinema. Former famous cabaret of the Latin Quarter who lives among others, it was in 1957 that this unique hall of 125 places became a cinema. First named Studio Cujas before being called Accattone, in reference to Pier Paolo Pasolini's first film, this film offers daily films of yesterday and today. On the spot also: a bookstore, a gallery and a bar to speak travelling and fondus. Be careful at the seats in the room: most of them have names of great personalities… In sum, a place that smells the Dolce Vita…

CINEMA LES VARIETES

Cinema
3/5

Les Variétés is the symbol of an old-fashioned cinema that, with its four screens, continues to stand up to the multiplexes of Gaumont Carré Sénart and Pathé de la Cartonnerie in Dammarie-les-Lys. The municipal cinema is classified as Art & Essai, and regularly offers films to be rediscovered with friends or family. The facilities also offer new ways of viewing, including digital technology and 3D viewing facilities. Prices are well maintained, so you can enjoy good quality cinema at reduced prices.

THÉÂTRE DE MÉNILMONTANT

Theater
3/5
1 review

There are three rooms at this address: XXL - 345 seats -, XL - 96 seats - and Le Lab - 90 seats - as well as rehearsal studios. Various companies present their shows. The history of the Ménilmontant theatre dates back to 1877 when two halls in the area are successively open for Saint Peter's patronage and the Salésiens fathers. There are numerous performances of children, teenagers and adults. Then there are "Passions", "Mysteries", "Mystères" sessions and "light projections", patriotic pieces, comedy, drama, lyrical performances, operettas… The current address was inaugurated in 1929. A former mentor, actor Georges Chamarat, is assembling pieces. In 1932, Passion was created in Ménilmontant, a show played by residents of the neighborhood who enjoyed a long success. In 1958, before founding the Théâtre de l'Est Paris, Guy Rétoré and his Guild settled in this theatre to which they gave their name today. The NPT of Jean Vilar also plays there. From the 1970 s, the Théâtre theatre opened to the song: Félix Leclerc, Graeme Allwright, Mouloudji… In 1979, a Théâtre Theatre Workshop was launched. And the adventure still continues today. This place must have grace!

THÉÂTRE MONTMARTRE-GALABRU

First, there was a conservatory founded in 1850 by Renée Maubel, which included studios of rehearsals and a hall where Raimu, Frehel and Pierre Fresnay were included. Unfortunately, it was seriously deteriorated in the 1970 s. In 1984, Michel Galabru bought her, retyping her and confided it to his daughter Emma, who named the theater place Maubel-Galabru, then Montmartre-Galabru. Here you will find a hundred spectators of comedy, musical shows, one man shows and children's shows.

LE FOLIE’S PIGALLE

1 review

The alumni of Studio 287, the Queen and the Baths are now at the manettes of this club, which has changed artistic direction recently. Electro-bondissantes musics are rigueur. We are far from the years of "madness" where the place was transformed into a genuine bath bath: drags, bi and trans joyeusement joyeusement to the crowd. Today, the box is fairly classic, despite some excesses found on the spot, but not always welcoming. It's worth noting that some evenings, effeuilleuses viennent the party.

AU COMPTOIR DU TEMPS

Cocktail bar

1 review

A very simple place, ideal for eating simple, quickly and at a lower cost: those who are on the west side of the park, towards the Porte de la Villette, have an excellent compromise here. Inside, an astonishing wall on which contemporary paintings have been placed, very many places inside, a large part of them with comfortable black leather armchairs: that's the setting. Concerning the meal, eclecticism: pizzas, burgers, pastas, meats and fish are offered via a very wide menu. The service is fast, often smiling. We don't come here to find a gastro, but effective: mission accomplished!

Closed - Open to 18h00

What we love about this bar is first and foremost its clandestine side - don't we say " Prohibition is back " here ? You pass through a pizzeria and push open a heavy cold-storage door. The only thing missing behind it is Al Capone in Prohibition times. Set to jazzy tunes and 1930s decor, you'll ogle the menu with its 85 whiskies and beers, but above all for its cocktails, skilfully crafted by Pedro, Pasa, Danilo, Matteo, Martin, Valentin and Max. The perfect way to celebrate your discovery of this very special place.

Decorated with salvaged furniture, it features a café and a concert area. While the International doesn't look like much from the outside, you can't help noticing a crowd of people coming in and out all the time. Inside, you soon realize that the bar's appeal lies not in its decor but in its folk, rock, electro and reggae programming... Several artists take to the stage each evening. DJs are also on hand to set the mood, and all without the need to pay an admission fee!

A real pleasure… It must be said that the boss and the servers do everything to make one feel good. Smiling and kind, they will not hesitate to chat with you if there are not too many people. In addition to its unique setting, it also owes its reputation to the quality of the products it offers, including its famous brûlée cream. The Banana Café has just celebrated its 20 years and the victims will always be in the bar or on the tables, The Board, Miss Fein and Max, 3 queens drag, still trémoussent and put the atmosphere every Tuesday for the Desperate Banana Girls, other evenings still take place on the ground floor. La Java has a rich history. A small dance hall opened in 1923 at the back of the Palais du Commerce, a gallery now listed as a historic monument, it saw the debut of Edith Piaf. Celebrities such as Django Reinhardt and Jean Gabin also frequented it. Later, it became a discotheque. In the 1980s, it was the scene of sixties and indie rock revivals. The Hot Pants, for example, were Manu Chao's first band. There were other dance evenings, this time with a Latin flavour. Since 2006, the venue has been divided between concerts and clubbing.

SECTEUR X

Lounge bar
2/5

How does one of the last few Parisian sex clubs come to the full, including in August, while many local bars attend without the disaffection of their customers? Perhaps because here many things are radically wrong with what we are accustomed to elsewhere. First, the reception is not extravagant, but sober, humble and professional. Then Francis, the boss, doesn't grow to consumption (only one glass is enough to take advantage of the place) and everyone is housed in the same sign, without discrimination. Finally, prices are low, and even very low. And as a bonus, smokers have a cabin at their disposal. Don't forget that Rafael at the cloakroom is really very pleasant to watch. Yet, at the opening, none would have bet a penny on the success of this place, so it is close to Full Metal and HQ (now the Krash). Today, he has created a clientele of regulars with many visitors from province and abroad. It is small and therefore conducive to fast and free approaches. Bar on the ground floor, then 2 basements for fun, some cabins and a cross of Saint André. Every Saturday, from 15 p. m., «Leather and Slavic afternoon», every Sunday, Snike and Piss afternoon… You are warned!

THÉÂTRE MONTPARNASSE

There were several entertainment establishments since 1817, on the site where the current room - seven hundred square places - was built in 1886. She was marked by the period during which Gaston Baty led her, from 1930 to 1943. He set up classics and opened his stage to productions such as the'Opera, by Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill. In the following years, the Montparnasse theatre will allow many Anglo-Saxon authors to make themselves known in France: Peter Schaffer, Arnold Wesker, Noël Coward, Harold Pinter, Murray Schisgal… Myriam de Colombi has been leading the room since 1984. Among the shows she presented to us are: The Night Watchman, by Sacha Guitry, with Yasmina Reza and Fabrice Luchini, Le Secret, with Anny Duperey, Pierre Vaneck and Fabrice Luchini, Real Life, from Tom Stoppard, with Pierre Arditi, Evelyne Bouix, Catherine Rich, La Boutique au corner, from Ernst Lubitsch, with Florence Pernel, Samuel Labarthe, Jean-François Derec, Wojtek Psoniak… Le Petit Montparnasse - two hundred places - was created in 1979 in a former frame warehouse. It has created new talents. Trials have been carried out there, some of which have been successful.

The Gibson's Brothers, the Martinique trio that achieved a phenomenal success in many countries during the 1970s and 1980s, created this famous jazz club with eighty seats. Of this creation under Caribbean auspices remained the taste of Afro music, in the broad sense of the term. Jazz fusion style training is also offered. Some names of artists that marked more than two decades of hot music: Richard Bona, Angelique Kidjo, Monica Passos, Ultramarine, Les Étoiles, Sylvain Luc, Rido Bayonne, Étienne Mbappé, Mario Canonge, Nguyen Lê... And the adventure continues on the same rhythm. Take note: François Constantin the percussionist orchestrated the jam sessions on Monday.

Nevertheless, Baiser Salé is also a bar with terrace that is very appreciated for its generous happy hours. As it is located in a very busy street of the centre of the capital, you have to come earlier if you want to enjoy the terrace!

A modern ambience and guest-guys in this bar, which is one of the oldest in the Marais (almost 25 years old!), just steps from town hall. Today, in popularity with Cox or Open, it always attracts a loyal clientele who likes to find themselves at the time of the aperitif. On Mondays and Tuesdays, Pastis and Ricard are 2,50 €. And if after your drink, the mood takes you to dinner and you don't want to run on the other side of the neighborhood, Eglantine opposite will do the business very well - see "Restaurants". 100% naturist, the rule may surprise first, especially when the doorman gives you a plastic bag to store your business! But the reception is very comfortable in this small but welcoming bar. We drink a glass and talk on the ground floor because customers are first easy. No worries, you won't put your hands on the package directly, nor will you measure your manhood by trying to measure the size of the object of the crime - delight. And then it's pretty nice to sip an orange vodka in the ass!
