Hiking trails also lead to other parts of the park, which is home to the only significant old-growth Douglas-fir forest north of MacMillan Park. Elk Falls Park Campground is an ideal base camp for exploring the surrounding area, including Gold River, Sayward Forest, Kelsey Bay, Rock Bay and Quadra and Cortes Island Parks.
