In the south of Burgundy, the enchanting terroirs of the Vignerons des Terres Secrètes occupy the rolling, sunny hills of the Mâconnais. On this exceptional territory, winegrowers welcome you and guide you through the parcels, telling you the history of the vineyard and the innovations of the new generation attached to a sustainable development. These heirs of a cooperative movement, born in the Mâconnais at the beginning of the 20th century, are keen to reveal the subtleties of these terroirs where they produce great affordable wines. Here are 8 good reasons to visit them

1. Richness of the terroirs

The Cave des Vignerons des Terres Secrètes, founded in 1928, is the only winery located within the perimeter of the Grand Site Solutré-Pouilly-Vergisson. It reveals the fruit of a close relationship between man and nature. Identified, selected and delimited in the form of specific plots, sometimes tiny, the Terres Secrètes vineyard is a patchwork where the typicity of each particular place is expressed. The Vignerons des Terres Secrètes have made them into distinct clos, perfectly identified places, like gardens of Eden, chosen for their soil, their remarkable exposure to the sun and the age of their vines.

2. Undulating landscapes

The vineyard plots here make up the romantic and enchanting landscapes that the winegrowers invite you to discover and appreciate in the context of wine tourism activities. Thus, in July 2022, as every year, their famous Twilight Tasting Walk is scheduled. The opportunity to enjoy the atmosphere of the Mâconnais at dusk, during a walk without difficulty between hillsides and vineyards. A friendly walk, with tastings hosted by the winemakers. The evening continues around a country meal. Two routes are available, one of about 7 km, the other of 12 km. Information at the winery.

3. New: the barrel cellar

The winegrowers have just given a new setting to the vinification and ageing in wood with a complete renovation. The new barrel cellar, with a capacity of nearly 1,000 barrels, is dedicated to the vintages for which wood allows the subtle revelation of the different facets and asperities of their respective terroirs, in addition to vinification in stainless steel tanks. This is how the sixty or so parcel-based selections, including Saint-Véran Croix de Montceau, Mâcon Verzé Croix-Jarrier, Mâcon Milly-Lamartine Clos du Four, not forgetting the iconic Saint-Véran Révélis, as well as the cuvée Les Sentinelles (old vines), are all enhanced.

4. Free and varied tasting

The Vignerons des Terres Secrètes are committed to sharing their passion in an original way and to helping you understand their work and the specificities of their wines. In the heart of the Mâconnais region, various free activities enchant this land. But the originality of their approach comes especially from the fact that the cellar proposes the totality of the wines of its wine growers to the tasting in a free way and without obligation of purchase.

5. Very good price-pleasure

Elected Cellar of the Year 2021 by the Revue du Vin de France, the cellar of the Vignerons des Terres Secrètes produces, thanks to the involvement of its very committed cooperators, excellent, seductive and pleasing wines. We particularly appreciate their new range of wines in organic conversion, 100% eco-designed, Cerço. If you stop by the cellar you will have the opportunity to choose the wines that best suit you. But what also characterizes the beautiful collection of bottles offered, is their very good price-pleasure ratio. You are here at the source, without intermediary, and take advantage of advantageous offers and precious advices to give your cellar something to please you all year long and in all occasions!

6. Visit the vineyard

Trust the 120 winegrowers of this cooperative cellar to help you discover the Mâcon vineyards. There is always one ready to talk to you about the wines and to accompany you on informal or organized visits to the plots. This is an opportunity to measure how much these professionals pamper their land and work with respect for biodiversity, adapting their cultivation methods to the needs of the land, in order to pass them on to future generations. And you will learn all about limestone, marl or calcareous terroirs, clay or clay-siliceous terroirs, siliceous terroirs, on granitic subsoil. Three types of soils that strongly influence the vine. You can also walk freely through this pampered and easily accessible vineyard. You can walk or cycle through it and why not ride a horse if you have a mount. The region lends itself to a responsible slow tourism in accordance with the work of local winemakers.

7. Easy access

The Cave des Vignerons des Terres Secrètes is ideally located in the heart of the Grand Site de France Solutré-Pouilly-Vergisson, close to Cluny and Mâcon, along the Voie Verte 71 which crosses the Saône-et-Loire, where hikers and cyclists meet, 5 minutes from the A6 and 3 minutes from the RCEA N79. The Vignerons des Terres Secrètes offer you a perfect base camp for a wine tourism stay with a new motorhome reception area in the middle of the vineyards of Saint-Véran. Entirely dedicated to motorhomes, this area has 6 vast pitches in the greenery, houses a dumping zone and a Euroflex water intake terminal.
