SPIAGGIE DI PORTO ROSSO
Read moreAbout ten kilometers west of Santa Teresa, the inlet that enters the land from La Licciola in the north to Porto Pozzo in the south offers a succession of beautiful beaches and coves protected from the wind and the currents. Our favorite is Conca Verde but don't hesitate to take the small roads or tracks to find your ideal cove! It is crowded in summer but certainly less than in Santa Teresa. The small marina of Porto Pozzo is rather charming and has nothing to envy to the big structures of the Costa Smeralda.
COMPLESSO NURAGICO DI MALCHITTU
Read moreThe Nuragic Complex of Malchittu promotes the archaeological remains of the region by dedicating an educational area to them: the tomb of the giants Coddu Ecchju and Li Lolghi, the nuraghe La Prisgiona, Albucciu and Tempietto di Malchittu and many others. There are seven in total, but only some of them are unmissable and the Petit Futé has listed them for you. You can buy a pass here, the price of which varies according to the number of sites chosen. You should know that it takes half a day to visit two of them. The most important sites are the nuraghe La Prisgiona, the tomb of the giants of Li Lolghi and that of Coddu Vecchiu.
The complex of Malchittu includes a nuraghe, a large hut, tombs and a temple dating from the Middle Bronze Age. The hut has a circular plan with a large diameter and projecting stone walls. The remains of the nuraghe, set against a rocky outcrop, can be seen by walking up the hill along a narrow gorge. On the right is the temple. The nuraghe is completely collapsed. On the other hand, the temple is clearly identifiable with its rectangular structure. The entrance is through a vestibule that runs along the rock and leads to a large room. Offerings were placed on the table at the back. Niches were built into the walls and a hearth was drawn into the floor with stones arranged in a circle. Six tombs have been discovered in the vicinity, but they are hidden by vegetation.

GALLERIA HENRY
Read moreSymbol of the mining epic of Bruggerru, the Henry Gallery was dug into the rock in 1865. It was used to transport minerals in steam locomotives from the excavation sites to the washing stations. Today, an electric train takes over the route and takes visitors to the bottom of the kilometre-long gallery. The return journey is via the old mule track that runs along the inside of the cliff. Large openings allowing natural light to enter had been dug and create spectacular viewpoints.

CASCADE SA SPENDULA
Read moreThe river descends through a long, narrow gorge between Mount Margiani and Mount Omo and plunges with 3 jumps, the last of around 30 metres, forming the famous "Sa Spendula" waterfall. Situated in a natural setting of great beauty, amidst granite rocks and lush vegetation of rockroses and mastic trees, the succession of 3 waterfalls is easily accessible on foot. As for the rest, canyoning enthusiasts will have a field day. The massif is teeming with hiking and mountain-biking trails.
SPIAGGIE
Read moreLess famous than Berchida, the beach stretching northwards between La Caletta and the mouth of the Posada river is no less charming. Bordered by the Stagno Lungo and a whole network of river arms that flow into the lagoon, it's never crowded, thanks to its length: almost 3 km of fine, white sand for unhindered toweling. The coastline is often battered by winds, and it's no coincidence that the "spiaggia grande" is equipped for water sports, including kitesurfing and windsurfing.
COMPENDIO GARIBALDINO DI CAPRERA
Read moreA museum and a cemetery are part of the centre, which is housed in the house that Garibaldi occupied during the last years of his life. He discovered the island during his exile in 1848 and settled there permanently in 1852.
We can visit his bedroom decorated with portraits of his last wife and children. All the furniture is preserved, along with relics such as a lock of hair from Garibaldi's first wife, Anita, who died in Venice after fleeing Rome. Wheelchairs used by the hero who was wounded in a leg during a battle are also visible, as well as a cot and his deathbed. Legend has it that he died looking out of his window at Bonifacio Point. Portraits of Garibaldi's comrades are displayed at the entrance to his house, as well as his decorations earned in Italy and Uruguay. There is also a portrait of Garibaldi by the artist Saverio Altamura in 1860 and a bust sculpted by Leonardo Bistolfi after his death. A tree planted by Garibaldi on the occasion of the birth of his last daughter Anita is still in the garden. In the stables is the tomb of Garibaldi's horse, Marsala. The hero's tomb, in granite, is very simple. Next to it are the graves of his wife, two of his daughters and one of his sons. In the garden, a mill is still visible. Going down from the cemetery esplanade towards the sea, you reach Cala Garibaldi, where the hero moored his boats.

GROTTA IS JANAS

It is of considerable importance for the archaeological remains found there and for the fauna that lives there, including the geotriton, endemic to the island. Among the archaeological finds are shards of pottery and forged bowls used by the Ozieri culture around 3,000 BC. The tour continues along a superb path that leads to Stampu 'e su Turrunu, a 16 m-high waterfall that gushes out of a huge hole in the rock.

CASCATA SA STIDDIOSA
Read moreThe isolated Sa Stiddiosa waterfall is a masterpiece of nature, a flow of water over a rock face into the Flumendosa River. This karst spring is impressive in spring, when the ground is waterlogged and a veritable shower of rain falls from the rock, constellating the river with ripples. The walls over which the waterfall slides turn green, the humidity forming dense, almost tropical vegetation. Add to this spectacle a river of crystal-clear waters and numerous basins for bathing. A must-see in spring.
MUMA HOSTEL
Read moreThe museum is a little jewel that tells the story of the lagoon's aquatic flora and fauna, and recalls the memory of Sant'Antioco's naval carpentry. The other idea behind the MUMA is environmental education through workshops, excursions and educational activities. And unlike other museums, everything is modern and state-of-the-art - this place only recently opened its doors. Last but not least, you can also enjoy a coffee and breakfast here, and why not stay overnight. The initiative is truly commendable.
SPIAGGIE DI CASTELSARDO

Finally, to the west of the town, Lu Bagnu, a vast, paradisiacal stretch of sand bordered by crystal-clear waters and awarded the Blue Flag.

The building that houses this unique center in Sardinia is in the Liberty style (Italian Art Nouveau, from the beginning of the 20th century). The museography is superb, in perfect harmony with the architecture. Sardinian artists in all artistic fields are highlighted, as well as music because the beautiful garden hosts concerts. It is also a place of archive, conservation and preservation of the memory of the island in cultural fields.
FONDAZIONE MACC
Read moreThe Macc (Museo d'Arte Contemporanea of Calasetta) exhibits the donation of the Tuscan artist Ermanno Lainardi, an abstract painter who lived between Paris and this small town of the Sulcis. The collection offers a monochrome of international artists, including Albers, Fontana, Capogrossi, Hsiao Chin. This avant-garde museum, one of the most evocative of Sardinia for contemporary art, seduces not only by its works, but also by its position overlooking the sea. The regularly organised exhibitions follow the same pointed and open spirit.
