The second largest city in the country and despite the closure of many lines, Thessaloniki is connected to the main neighbouring cities by fairly regular lines and to Athens seven times a day. Since 2018, a train can reach the capital in 4h30. In addition to regular connections with the capital, the railway station remains an interesting starting point to reach Thrace, in the east of the country towards Turkey, but also other places of interest in the south such as Kalambaka, and then visit the famous Meteors.
