Founded in 1989, the Maîtrise de Bretagne offers anyone with a strong aptitude for singing a unique opportunity to learn, practice and share their love of music. Classes are held at the Conservatoire à rayonnement régional on rue Hoche, and begin with a special timetable in junior high school. They then have the opportunity to join either the women's choir or the men's choir. A regular partner of the Opéra de Rennes, the Orchestre National de Bretagne, the Mélisme(s) chamber choir and numerous events, the Maîtrise offers the opportunity to perform in unique projects. A cutting-edge yet comprehensive service.

They see kids in Bermuda and shirts coming out with their violin, flute or clarinet. Learning an instrument is here a priesthood and the conservatory is divided into departments: ropes, winds, polyphonic instruments, voice, dance, theatre… You need to be diligent and worker to hope to pass the year-end exams and access the higher levels! With thousands of students aged 6 to 30 and 100 teachers, the Regional Conservatory of Brittany is a reference in this area.

The ancient convent of the nuns Clarisse, praying for Clare following the rule of Pope Urban (th century) is a classic monument with the pure lines recently restored. The chapel houses the paintings of E. Deveria - th century - and the contemporary stained glass windows of the master glass guevel. The mary buildings today host the municipal music school, the municipal school of drawing and plastic arts and the art association Arcade. The convent houses the Albert-Bourgeois gallery, the place of temporary exhibitions of contemporary art.

The Centre Breton d'Art Populaire (Breton Folk Art Center) offers an apprenticeship in traditional Breton music and various forms of oral music. Group and/or individual lessons enable everyone, whatever their age or level of proficiency, to discover and deepen their knowledge of an instrument (biniou, bombard, Celtic harp, Irish fiddle, piano and many others). Particularly committed to the promotion and development of Breton artistic heritage, the center also organizes fest-noz and other concerts. A traditional dance workshop is also available.

For more than years, the Bodadeg ar Sonerion or B.A.S association has trained musicians and organizes traditional music championships. It aims to revive traditional Breton music, especially the practice of bombing and biniou. She is on the initiative of kemper, a Breton instrumental ensemble that brings together some musicians (bombardes, pipes and percussion), a mythical symbol of Breton musical Culture. With its popularity, it counts today, 80 associations, 6000 bagadoù and more than members.
