Among Mafate's renowned gîtes, here's one that's sure to win the hearts of all hikers. Ideally located at the crossroads of trails, 30 minutes from the village of Roche Plate and 1h30 from Les Trois Roches, it enjoys a sublime panorama of Mafate. It has 2 dormitories (6 and 8 beds) and 4 double rooms with private bathrooms. All are perfectly clean and well kept, with comfortable bedding. And that's not counting the peacefulness of the place, the hyperchalant welcome of the hosts and the quality of the meals. A wonderful discovery!

Dominique, the nurse from Mafate, has retired and warmly welcomes you to her home. She provides her guests with a brand-new, comfortable, impeccably maintained and very pleasant four-person wooden chalet. She has also set up three two-person tipis in her pretty garden, set on a wooden desk and equipped with real mattresses and a good comforter. Perfectly romantic. Kaz L'infirmière is located in the heart of nature, just outside the village of Roche Plate, and is a unanimous favorite with guests. A real favorite.

A calbanon is a Creole word designating a stone roof stone box that inhabited the slaves. It is more modern. This large box consists of a double bedroom, a family, a 10-seat dormitory with bunk beds. Residents share two common bathrooms, two equipped kitchens and a terrace with panoramic views of the circus and village. The centre is 5 minutes walk and the mare in Rushes is just a few steps away. Meals are available upon reservation.

Family-run gîte set in lush natural surroundings, with mountain and river views, not far from Grand Bassin in the Plaine Arm. It features fully-equipped tents (for 3 people), comfortable double rooms with private bathrooms, dormitory rooms for 4, 6 or 8 people, a bungalow with terrace and a cabin. Sheets, comforters, pillows and towels are provided. Wood-fired carrys are served as often as guests like and are a real treat. A change of scenery in an enchanting setting.

This gîte, located on îlet des Orangers, a haven of peace in the heart of the cirque de Mafate, welcomes hikers in a relaxed atmosphere, for the night, a meal or a refreshing break. A 100% Mafate bar-snack completes the picture. The gîte can accommodate up to 14 people in total, with two six-bed dormitories and one double room. Shared toilets and showers. Christophe welcomes you to his haven of peace, simple and authentic. Comfort is limited, but the site is unique. Christophe concocts delicious Creole dishes over a wood fire, in his own style, which are much appreciated after a day's hiking.
