Fruit and vegetable producers Martinique

Michel La Rougery, the owner of the premises, is the first organic banana producer on the island. Michel's choice of organic bananas has been a long time coming: his father was a conventional farmer and when Michel took over the family farm, it was a long struggle to produce a healthy banana without pesticides. His farm covers more than 37 hectares of land which has been Ecocert certified since 2014 with certified chlordecone-free soils. In addition to bananas (dessert or yellow), he produces mangoes, avocados, chilli peppers and many other vegetable crops.

Organic certified since March 2019! This former agro-ecological farm of Cols Verts is now cultivated by Pierre-Gilles Iman, a former computer scientist who has converted to organic farming. This passionate market gardener, who delivers most of his production to the Ta Nou solidarity structure, applies the principles of agro-ecology (respect for nature's cycles, crop association) as well as traditional techniques with planks, pits or natural mulching.

Bio Kail is a family business led by the charismatic Léon Tisgra, alias Tonton Léon, the first organic farmer in Martinique. In his 15 hectares farm facing Mount Pelée, Tonton Léon works on the development of his market garden, cultivated according to the principles of the Creole garden. In addition to the fruits and vegetables from his farm, Ecocert certified, he offers bungalows, a large cottage and a table d'hôtes, which welcome holidaymakers looking for a green haven away from the city.

Baskets of healthy fruits and vegetables, from local distribution, accessible in a click: this is the leitmotiv of Petit Cocotier. The fruits, vegetables and aromatic plants offered grow on certified chlordecone-free land, cultivated with permaculture and agroecology practices. For Sébastien, André-Judes and Cédric, the founders of Petit Cocotier, ethics are fundamental to their approach. All three seek to promote local production and consumption by advocating healthy agriculture without pesticides.

Solidarity baskets of fruit and vegetables, rimed raziè, medicinal and aromatic plants, here is a sample of the production offered by the Active association (Action for the Integration and Valorization of the Environment). The fruits and vegetables harvested make up the solidarity baskets offered for sale every Wednesday. Also to be seen: an educational circuit, which retraces the stages of arrival through the history of the various plants found on the island.

Ta Nou is the first local distribution of exclusively organic products. The objective is to allow consumers to buy organic products and Martinican farmers to benefit from it to promote their products. The structure is also committed to the creation of agro-ecological and organic farms on unpolluted soils in Martinique. To order a basket, nothing could be easier: just visit the site, which is replenished twice a week with the producers' harvests, and compose your basket.

Want to eat healthy? Committed to a respectful approach of nature, Elodie cultivates multiple products in Le François according to the principles of agro-ecology and permaculture: fruit trees, market garden and aromatic plants, vanilla… There are also laying hens and sheep. The farm welcomes you in the countryside, in an environment surrounded by generous nature and a river. Every Friday, Elodie prepares baskets that she delivers from Schoelcher to La Trinité, with her healthy and certified organic products.
