In winter, when the snow repainted the city of a pretty white, we observe the hordes of tourists who leave the city center from 18h to get away from the light pollution and attend the magical and colored ballet of the Northern Lights.

Travelers must have come across a number of reindeer on the roads (nearly 15,000 in the wild!). Those who travel during the coldest months of the year can extend their stay in Kautokeino to enjoy a unique experience: sleigh rides on the snow. This is what Sokki Adventure offers: to discover the local culture by teaching visitors to steer sleds and toboggans on a snowy track, but also to gather under a big tent around a fire with the local population. SNØ is located just 15 minutes from Oslo and covers 36,000 m² of snow-covered area, divided between three slopes of varying difficulty levels, a snowpark with rail, jump and big jump, and a 1.5 km cross-country ski run. While it lacks the scenery and ambience of a classic ski resort, it's a welcome alternative for those who don't always have the time to go and get the snow where it's found. All equipment can be rented on site: snowboards, cross-country or alpine skis and even winter clothing.

The ski resort of Oppdal is spread over four mountains. It has 17 lifts, 30 ski runs of varying difficulty and a snow park. The Oppdal Giant Slalom is also very famous. Ski rental shops and ski schools are also available. An option not to be overlooked by all ski lovers! The resort also offers accommodation to suit all budgets.

This ski resort opens its slopes in winter of course, but also in summer for a short period. After a morning of skiing at dawn, you can go for a swim in a fjord and catch some sun. Skiing in summer is also an opportunity to admire amazing panoramas without having to climb a mountain on foot. As for the feeling, the snow in summer is often very hard in the morning and softens quickly in the afternoon, so remember to get up early!

The Destinatjon 71° Nord agency offers several winter and summer activities to allow visitors to discover the North Cape region. From the end of May to the end of September a 3 hours 30 excursion on board a small Zodiac to fish this famous giant crab which lives on the coast between Murmansk and Tromsø. The crabs are truly gigantic! In winter, direction North Cape by quad or snowmobile, the adventure awaits you at Destinatjon 71° North.

It's a great place for ski fans, with a few steep slopes to enjoy. Not only is it one of the few ski resorts in Lofoten, it's also one of the best exposed. In front of you, the sea as far as the eye can see and the cliffs of the surrounding area set the scene. And there's something for everyone, as the downhill slopes are surrounded by groomed cross-country ski trails. There's also a café with terrace for breaks.

Ketil and Evelyn Anguyak Reitan have been breeding and driving sled dogs since the 1970s. Take advantage of their unique skills and experience to discover the wild side of Norway. Their dogs are all friendly Alaskan huskies. Ketil and Evelyn will even teach you how to lead 5 or 6 dogs. Dog sledding is also a way to perceive the territory in a different way, to feel an unusual speed of movement and of course to apprehend the human-animal interaction so surprising sometimes.

Røros Husky is a family business owned and operated by Torgeir Oren and Mary Amundsen. They have been breeding and driving the dogs since 1975. They have about 30 very well trained and docile Alaskan Huskies. For years, Torgeir was one of the best mushers in Europe for long-distance races. Day trips on the Gauldal plateau (Gauldalsvidda) and in lightly wooded areas. Multi-day trips are also on the program! It is not necessary to have already done dog sledding.

A cable car leads to the top of Fagernestoppen and its restaurant. Once at the top, there is a magnificent view of the town, which juts out into the blue fjord, surrounded by snow-stained mountains. The perfect setting for a great descent down the slopes! With 9 slopes and 6 chairlifts, the resort is a real playground for the locals who spend their evenings and weekends here. As the season progresses, the sun returns, the light changes and the atmosphere at the top of the slopes is very special, with breathtaking sunsets!

Korketrekkeren is Oslo's most popular toboggan run! All you have to do is rent a sled and let yourself be carried along! Strong sensations are guaranteed, because beware, you quickly get up to speed! There are two models to choose from: wooden sleds with a woven seat and two wooden runners, or for the more experienced, the "rodel" sled on which you lie down for a minimum of wind resistance and a maximum of speed. Once at the bottom, you just have to take the metro with your sled to go back up, quite original! 255 meters of difference in altitude.
