While Songkran, the Thai New Year, is celebrated in April, Chinese New Year and Western New Year are also celebrated.

Every year, the Thais celebrate the New Year no less than three times. If Songkran, the Thai New Year celebrated with fervor, is in April, they have nothing against celebrating also each year the Chinese New Year and the Western New Year. January1st coincides with the peak of the tourist season, which means that many foreigners are present in the kingdom on this occasion. Many festivities are organized throughout the country, with fireworks, concerts, shows and special parties.

Alors que dire sur ces 3 jours.... Soit on prend le parti de rigoler et de s'amuser à fond en rentrant dans le jeu, soit on pleure parce qu'on est trempé dès qu'on met un pied dehors, et ça pendant 3 jours. En ce qui nous concerne il y a eu un mélange des deux : on était ravis de prendre quelques jets de pistolets à eau (même si ce sont des géants comme on n'a pas chez nous) car il fait très chaud. MAIS car il y a un gros MAIS il faut savoir qu'on prend aussi et surtout des seaux entiers (à température ambiante dans le meilleur des cas, sinon glacée) et ça à chaque pas. Fini de sortir son tél ou son appareil photo sous peine de lui dire adieu, d'où la vente de pochettes en plastique partout, à se mettre autour du cou. Sinon prévoir sac en plastique TRES ETANCHE dans le sac à dos. Et adieu le resto à la clim quand vous êtes dégoulinant. Bref, c'est drôle 5 mn, pas 3 jours non stop. Mais faut le voir au moins quelques heures, c'est hallucinant ! (et eux ils s'amusent bien !)
