Its line runs eleven kilometres from Tywyn to Nant Gwernol, near the village of Abergynolwyn. Now a tourist attraction, this line, opened in 1866, transported slate from the Bryn Eglwys quarries to Tywyn. In 1951, it became the first tourist railway in the world to be maintained by volunteers!
