The London North Eastern Railway (LNER) is a British railway company that was re-established when the national company British Rail was privatised in the mid-1990s (the company that unified the country's four major railway companies - the Big Four - in 1948). In general, the tube and buses cover the entire city centre, but the suburban lines of the National Rail, the English railway company, can be useful, and sometimes much faster. This network is connected to several metro stations in the city marked with a red symbol on the metro maps.
