Saloon would be the oldest bar in San Francisco (1861). Nothing has changed for decades: the population is still predominantly male, beers are still drunk at the counter and folk and country bands play there every night. And every Monday it's the resident band The Bachelors that welcomes you, a most enjoyable blues-rockabilly ensemble! We love the picturesque interior and the atmosphere. Located in the middle of nowhere, Bottom of the Hill is nonetheless a must for live music fans, who flock here every night to discover the new talent the owners have unearthed. In the past, the venue won the Readers' Poll Best of The Bay award for best rock venue for decades. Today, you'll hear everything from ska and hip-hop to rock and indie. This Boston club with its resolutely rock programming can boast of having welcomed big names from the alternative rock scene, but not only: a concert by the band U2 took place there a few years ago. R.E.M. and Steve Earle also performed there. Since its inception in 1977, the Paradise Rock Club has also seen a large number of local rock bands, who enjoy a small amount of notoriety in the area, perform on its stage. A concert bar run by volunteers and music enthusiasts since 1986! Shaky programming and trendy bands for this small venue that struggles to make ends meet, but is the pride of the locals. The Gilman is mainly associated with having been the springboard for the 90s punk revival led by bands like Green Day, Operation Ivy, Rancid, AFI and The Offspring. A must-see for any rock fan visiting Berkeley, you'll find good sound and a great atmosphere here.

So shall we dance? This is the temple of world music. Crunk, jazz, blues, reggae, soul, roots, gospel... all genres are represented at the Shrine, and it is essentially independent artists who perform on its stage. Don't try to sit at the few tables, here we move to the rhythm of the music! Admission is free on weekdays and generally charged on weekend evenings, but the prices are not excessive given the quality of the programming. You will certainly discover new talents!

This very nice café in Park Slope is run by French people, hence its evocative name! The place is taken over by the inhabitants of the neighbourhood whatever the day of the week, but on weekends, the atmosphere is really wild! Every Tuesday evening, the brass band plays in a small room at the back of the bar, in an atmosphere close to that of the guinguettes on the banks of the Marne. Jazz, world and gypsy music on the other days in this bobo place which also serves good food. Local atmosphere.

Bissap Baobab is a lively address with lots of live music on Mission Street, created by Marco, a friendly Senegalese who has lived here for many years. It's a place for concerts, DJ sets and get-togethers, offering world music (not necessarily African). The evening schedule is available on the website. On the menu are affordable and delicious West African specialties such as yassa chicken, mafé (with peanuts) and plantains (aloko)... as well as mixed salads and exotic cocktails.
