BOULAOUANE KASBAH
Read moreLocated 80 km from El Jadida, Boulaoune Kasbah was built by Moulay Ismail circa 1710 on the top of a rocky mountain. This kasbah dominates the valley and lies on the edge of the Umm er Rbia Oued. The view is splendid. The place is in ruins but one can still understand how the soldiers of this garrison lived. Frescos are still visible on the walls and a square tower rises in the middle. You can discover some rooms and perhaps the remains of a hammam. Before you arrive in the Kasbah, you will cross a eucalyptus forest. At the entrance you will cross an old man who keeps the place. After your visit, give him a bet.
TAMUDA ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITE
Read moreDiscovered in 1920, the archaeological site of Tamuda allows an exit on the outskirts of the city. Its name comes from the Amazigh word "tamda", which means swamp, the name formerly given to the Martil wadi. Research on the site shows that this Mauritanian Punic city, founded in the 2nd century BC, was completely destroyed in the 1st century during a war between two Mauritanian kings. It was rebuilt but finally destroyed in the 40s after the Aedemon War.
ANZA GEOPARC
Read moreEver dreamed of walking in the footsteps of dinosaurs? It's now possible in Anza, a small coastal town north of Agadir, where rare footprints have been discovered right on the rocks. To see them, you'll have to wait for low tide, preferring the period between February and August when the sand doesn't cover them. This exceptional discovery of theropod tracks was made possible by a strong swell, and scientists counted over 300. Curious visitors eager to learn more can visit the small museum set up nearby.
