Mountain and winter sports Morocco

Oukaïmeden, a winter sports resort since 1947, has the highest chairlift in Africa (3,275 m!) and six ski lifts. The official ski season starts around December 15 and runs until April 30, but if the snow persists beyond that, you can ski by reporting your presence to the French Alpine Club. In summer, the chairlift is open every weekend and allows you to admire an extraordinary panorama. Please note that there is no piste safety or rescue service.

That's right! Morocco has been skiing for over 70 years! The entrance to the resort, 19 km south of Ifrane, is marked by the ski-club chalet dominated by Mount Michlifen (2,036 m) - near the red-and-white pylon. This is the main ski resort in the Middle Atlas. The facilities are modest and the two slopes can be accessed by ski lifts from the small road on the left. Tobogganing is also very popular here. A few kilometers away, two other slopes are equipped with ski lifts, at djebel Hebri.
