FRANZ-JOSEFS-BAHNHOF

A historic site in the 9th arrondissement. Inaugurated in 1872, this station was used as a set for the filming of Mayerling (1967), starring Catherine Deneuve, James Mason and Omar Sharif. In 1978, the original building, severely damaged during the last war, was destroyed and rebuilt following a monumental construction project. The modern architectural edifice, with its gleaming bay windows, now welcomes passengers and marks the district. This regional station serves north-western Vienna and the Waldviertel.

WIEN PRATERSTERN (GARE DU NORD)

This is the former Nordbahnhof or northern railway station. From here you can reach the Czech Republic. This imposing station dates from 1838 and was essential for the Austro-Hungarian Empire. It was badly damaged during the Cold War. It was relegated to the status of a regional railway station, next to the former Iron Curtain. Modernized in 2006, at the gates of the Prater, it has become a major station again and is served, like the Wien Mitte station, by the train from the airport.

GARE DE L'OUEST (WIEN WESTBAHNHOF)

The Westbahnhof has recently been renovated, offering travelers a modern shopping area where nothing is missing. All regional express trains operated by the Austrian State Railways (ÖBB) and the Westbahn stop here. The station is also served by trains from Western Europe. Wheelchair parking and drop-off spaces are available at the Europaplatz entrance.
