The Apollo Theatre, also known as the "Piccola Scala", is the jewel of the cultural life of Syros and more broadly of the Cyclades. Opened in 1864 to the plans of an Italian architect inspired by the Milan Opera House, the Apollo offers a quality programme of opera, concerts and dramatic theatre. The theatre was closed for renovation for many years. Since its reopening in 2000, it has been a pillar of cultural life on the islands. This cinema, named "The Noble of Kifissia", is the oldest open-air cinema in Greece and is located in the chic suburb of Kifissia! The first screening took place in 1918 and this emblematic cinema has become a real cultural institution! Currently, it can accommodate 450 spectators who flock in season! The choice of films can satisfy any public but in general one prefers here the films for cinephiles and unconditional of the seventh art. Nestled in a small square away from the crowd, here is a pearl not to be missed. The Manto Cinema is first and foremost an open-air cinema that shows films in OV every night during the season. The program is wide, but it mainly includes major international releases. In addition to this very pleasant cinema, you can come during the day to enjoy the totally unexpected Olympic peace and quiet that reigns in the pretty adjoining café. Located in a large garden, in the shade of majestic trees, the café serves snacks all day long.

There are two addresses for this mythical cinema in Kos-ville: the address on Elefterias Square is a classic cinema, as we know it here, while the address on Fenaretis is what we call a summer cinema in Greece. In a beautiful building dating from 1650, there is a theatre for 250 people. From June to September, apart from theatrical performances, there are also photo and painting exhibitions, jazz and classical music concerts. The Reggae Vibes music festival took place for the first time in 2007 on the beach of Almyros. Since then, it has been a unique institution and musical event for fans of reggae and dub music, not only in Crete, but also in the rest of Greece. It takes place every year uniting many world famous bands. With a growing success, the festival contributes, in its own way, to the cultural and touristic development of the Lassithi region.
