Surfing Spain

Surfing and windsurfing can also be done.

Located on the long beach of Barinatxe, better known as La Salvaje (literally "the wild one"), this surf school offers introductory and advanced courses for children and adults, as well as surf camps in collaboration with the Moana Surf Hostel. Lessons are organized in small groups of maximum six people and include all the equipment (wetsuit, board...). Please note: some teachers speak French!

The main tourist attraction of Bakio is of course its long beach which borders the entire municipality, ideal for learning to surf. This specialized school offers surfing courses for all levels, but also Stand Up Paddle excursions, or simply equipment rental. The school also organizes surf camps in the summer combining surfing with excursions in the surrounding area (to San Juan de Gaztelugatxe, Butrón Castle, etc.).

Located just a stone's throw from the beach, in the Gros district, the Urriola Surf Eskola is a safe bet for learning to surf or bodyboard on the mythical Zurriola. The characteristics of this beach make it an ideal place to learn to surf as well as to practice at a high level - the left side, close to the seawall, is more suitable for beginners. The school offers lessons for all levels, as well as equipment rental, surf camps and even training sessions to get in shape.

A reference for surfers! Situated right in front of La Zurriola beach - San Sebastián's surfing spot - this prestigious Basque school offers introductory and advanced courses as well as equipment for hire (possibility of courses in French). In the shop, you will also find their collections of clothing and swimwear which are very popular with young people. But if you want to redo your wardrobe, you'd better go to their shop in the Parte Vieja (C/ Mayor, 5), which has a fashion selection on two levels.
