MEDEHU NATURE

Hiking
5/5
1 review

This family hike is led by Antoine Geihaze on a short itinerary for a cultural and botanical discovery. He teaches you the names and uses of Lifou's plants, before showing you the small cave where the Wetr dance troupe comes to recharge its batteries and presenting traditional hunting and fishing techniques. An absolutely charming excursion in an enchanting setting. The guide is a true well of knowledge and it is fascinating to listen to him tell you all about his native region.

TERRASSES DE SHABADRAN

Hiking
4.5/5
2 reviews

We would like to say that this hike (2 hours and a half for the outward journey) is perfectly organized and supervised, but it is not always the case and we have to live with it. The access to the magnificent site of Shabadran (pronounced Cha-Ba-djan) remains paying and it is not a health walk. It starts with 30 minutes in the back of a pick-up truck to cross a coconut grove. We evolve then on a difficult ground to join the beach. The first section crosses a sharp coral rock, chiseled by the sea and the wind, sometimes not very stable. It ends with a small climb and offers many views on the coral plateaus and the cliffs that can reach 140 m high. The path stabilizes after a little more than an hour of walking and the beach finally appears. With its white sand lined with lush vegetation and turquoise water, the place is absolutely heavenly. Many say that it is the most beautiful place in New Caledonia. Once there, we stay about three hours before turning back. If this itinerary remains one of the most beautiful of the country and is a real enchantment, it is the object of very divided opinions of the travelers (and the locals) who sometimes deplore its organization and the fact that the various guides (sometimes children), are not always able to answer the questions. It is a customary land and the owners keep increasing the price of the entrance, year after year.

SARRAMÉA RANDONNÉES

Horseback riding
4/5
1 review

Formerly known for its horseback rides, this service provider now only offers quad rides in the beautiful Sarraméa valley, through "caféries" and the rainforest. A B license is required and the minimum height is 1.40 m for the passenger (5 years old minimum). For those who want something "less mechanical", there is still a horse and donkey farm on the 270-hectare property, and it is still possible to hike or mountain bike on marked trails.

LA ASICEN

Hiking
4/5

This beautiful 4 km (3 hours) forest walk is quite easy and allows you to explore the cliffs of La Asicen, with their caves and wild ferns. You will need to contact Joné shortly in advance, so that he can lead you through a maze of white and gray rocks, on which vegetation has taken root. The paths overhang the Nece chiefdom. The scenery is unreal and the setting bewitching, an ideal walk to be in contact with the mysteries of the Kanak forest, its myths, its legends, thanks to the explanations of the guide.

GOLF DE TINA

Golf course

It is spread over 80 acres of parkland, so we recommend you use a go-kart. The first nine holes are spread over a hilly course with high tee boxes and spectacular views. The last nine holes are hidden between mangroves and beaches. As a courtesy to other players, you must have all your pitches up and your divots in place. Local rules have been enacted in conjunction with the general rules of golf. If you break them, you will be punished with a two point penalty!

GOLF DE LA OUENGHI

Golf course

This golf course is located 15 minutes from the Tontouta airport and one hour from Noumea. This 18-hole golf course has a great reputation in New Caledonia, it belongs to the Paillottes de la Ouenghi complex (so spending a weekend there is easily possible). The course is very well laid out and even better maintained, and after finishing, you can go to the restaurant on site for a nice culinary break. We recommend Golf de la Ouenghi for all green lovers who want to spend a relaxing day.
