FÊTE DES FANTÔMES

It takes place on the ^1st day of the 7th month of the lunar calendar. Spirits of the dead leave hell to return to Earth. People place offerings at the entrances of houses, Buddhist monks pray for the salvation of these lost souls, and bundles of paper money are burned to appease these spirits. This period is not conducive to weddings and other projects, it is better to wait until the last day of the 7th month that the gates of hell close. Keelung town has the most festivities during this period.
