There are several different programs depending on the day of the week, featuring pansori, samulnori, sungmu (monk dance), sword dance, classical music and more... The performances are of the highest quality, heartfelt and beautifully staged by the country's most renowned troupes. The performances are intense and charming. If you want to find out more, note that explanations in English are given on screens (which is a real plus). There's also a similar theater in the city of Gyeongju (Gyeongsangbuk-do).

In the evening, water, lights and music come together to dance in harmony, offering a very nice 20-minute show. The water is also used as a screen guide and videos also join the performance. MYEONGDONG THEATER

It is actually one of the oldest theatres in Seoul, built in 1934 during the Japanese occupation. It still preserves the baroque style, especially in its exterior. Until the 1970s it was one of the busiest theatres in the whole of South Korea. But following the construction of the Korean National Theatre in 1975, the Myeongdong Theatre ceased its artistic activity and was rented out. The theatre mainly programmes plays of drama, dance and music.

MYEONGDONG NANTA THEATER

This theater always offers a show that is worth the detour. Proof of this is that it has been a worldwide success for several years now. Four cooks play all the instruments available in their kitchen and improvise a delirious concert between the drums of the Bronx and the traditional samulnori. The original, rhythmic, amusing show, a bit clownish but entertaining, will really please the whole family. If you are not in the Myeongdong area, there are also performances in Hongdae and even on Jeju Island
