Ideally located near Marguilan town center, this youth hostel is charming. Spacious, well-equipped rooms, private bathroom, breakfast included, services and amenities are impeccable. The simplicity and warmth of the premises, and of the discreet yet hospitable family, make this a very good address for solo travelers. The communal areas are ideal for getting together with other travelers. A plus: a small garden with trees where you can relax at the end of the day.

Close to Navoi Airport, this luxury hotel offers luxurious rooms of international standing. All the comfort is there, the set is a little cold but has the advantage of not being too flashy or tasteless. It is expensive, in the prices of a luxury hotel, which may be surprising in such a desert region, but is explained by the essentially business clientele of the establishment. In any case, it can be a comfortable stopover in a region that is otherwise very poor in hotel infrastructure

Facing Grand Samarkand, Grand Samarkand Superior offers the same range of services and the same quality as its older brother in terms of room equipment and decoration. Built at a later date, it benefits from additional facilities compared to its older brother, such as a swimming pool, fitness room and sauna. The top-class reception and the highly recommendable restaurant make it an excellent establishment for a reasonable price.

Opened in March 2020, in the heart of the old city, this modestly sized establishment does everything to play in the big league. The reception under a glass dome and decorated with openwork marquetry sets the tone: the emphasis has been placed on the decor and the oriental atmosphere of the common areas, including the roof terrace, which offers an exceptional panoramic view of the city. The rooms and bathrooms are spacious: the furniture unfortunately does not offer the same oriental touch, but is comfortable and functional.

A small, well-maintained, family-run guesthouse run with love and care, offering four rooms in all, with two twin rooms and two double rooms at attractive prices. Breakfast is included. The hostess Irina can arrange guided tours and a la carte or custom tours for her guests.

The address is meant to be a guesthouse, but it is actually a small hotel with 6 rooms in a large residence just a stone's throw from the very busy Ivlieva street. The ensemble: common areas, rooms and bathrooms offer a lot of space; there's no question of feeling cramped here. It's big and comfortable. The decoration is minimalist but you can linger on some pictures of Tashkent before the earthquake or in the inner courtyard. The most for the end of the day: a snooker, a swimming pool in the basement.

The rooms are as good as the rates, as well as the quality of service and cuisine. You can enjoy the hotel's two restaurants: the Brasserie offers breakfasts and barbecues in the summer, in the hotel's grounds, around the pool, while the Allegro restaurant concocts fine Mediterranean gastronomic specialties. The hotel is mainly frequented by a business clientele. It is also a good address to come and have a coffee and find some copies of the international press (sometimes censored).

The former Dedeman Silk Road Hotel is now part of the Wyndham Hotel Group. The hotel offers what this chain of business hotels is famous for: more than 200 rooms of international standing (the establishment was originally a Sheraton), comfortable and spacious but without any particular character. The hotel has a sauna, two swimming pools, one indoor and one outdoor, a café and a restaurant. The bar remains open 24 hours a day, but again, it offers nothing special in terms of setting or atmosphere.

Modern and pleasant hotel with rococo architecture. It has a cool courtyard and a small swimming pool that is pleasant on sunny days. The rooms also offer a very decent level of comfort for this price range, even if some of them are getting a bit old. They are all equipped with television and air conditioning. The tour operator Dolores, which owns the hotel, has its premises here, from where all the facilities to find maps, books and guides of Uzbekistan as well as to organize a whole tour in the country or in Central Asia.

Behind this singing name (Yangi Shamol literally translates into "new wind") hides the former Tara, very well known and popular holiday travellers and that taxi drivers will identify better under this old name.

No air-conditioned air, no television, improbable bathrooms and sleeping beds to the point of reaching the ground, but a price defying all competition and always so relaxed. Disadvantage: The hotel is located very far from the city centre. To reach this hotel from Jargon Rakhimov metro station, take tram number 17 and get off immediately after passing a railway. If you see a large mosque on your left, you've waited too long. The hotel is 200 m before the mosque, opposite. Aim for the three big green buildings: Yangi Shamol is the environment (there is no sign or sign).

Charming reception and convenient location near the western door of the city. The rooms are in Uzbek style, very spacious, succinctly decorated. Comfortable bathrooms, air conditioning.

In Ichan kala there are three small hotels near the north gate, including a more luxurious one completed in 2004, with a total of 18 rooms. All are comfortable, decorated in a European style and equipped with air conditioning. The first hotel, with its rather traditional decoration, is a little dark; the second has a courtyard to enjoy a little light; the third emphasizes a little more on the traditional style and is slightly more upscale. Efficient address, but quickly complete when groups arrive.

Uzbektourism has been hard at work renovating the former Khorezm Hotel. The U-shaped plan of the hotel has been closed by a huge glass façade, an inground swimming pool in the centre, and all the rooms have been redone in the European style. The first large luxury hotel in the whole region, but lacking in character. There is an ATM in the lobby that dispenses dollars. It always accommodates large groups of tourists, when they are too large to stay in Khiva's guesthouses.

Close to the Afrosiab hill, 18 European-style rooms, spacious and well furnished. Some are equipped with hydromassage showers. Indoor swimming pool, sauna and a beautiful garden at the back for strolling after a day's visit to Samarkand. A good value for money, but unfortunately a bit far away for walking tours and equipment often out of order. This is often the case in Uzbekistan, but here the staff is a little slow to put things in order. Too bad, because the establishment has what it takes to be an excellent address...

Like all the other establishments of the Asia chain, the main advantage of this hotel is that it is perfectly placed to visit all the points of interest in the old town. You'll be a stone's throw from the Registan and the Bibi Khanum mosque. The services are intended to be top-of-the-range, but are not of international standing either. Too bad, because for the rest there is not much to say: outdoor swimming pool, night bar, restaurant, sauna, exchange office... Everything you need for a 4-star is there. Friendly, English-speaking staff.

Hotel Zarina shines by its location, halfway between the Gur Emir and the Registan. The rooms are arranged around a courtyard with a small pool and a beautiful iwan where a few tables and traditional crafts are laid out for lounging in the shade. The standard rooms are nothing special and a little expensive, but those in the newer part of the building are comfortable and well appointed. A succinct breakfast, served in the basement unfortunately. Not the best address in Samarkand, but a good, quiet location.

The newest hotel in Termez. Rather well located, between the town hall and the cathedral, close to the modern centre and easily served by taxis and marchroutka. The rooms are very spacious, equipped with refrigerators, air conditioning and televisions. The "luxury" rate corresponds to an additional room used as a lounge. On the other hand, the pink bathroom with corner bathtub and the ever-pink chandelier made of blown glass imitating bay leaves are a constant in every category.

The renovation of this great Soviet mastodon was completed in early 2013. It has at least had the merit of restoring some lustre to a building dominated by the greyness of the communist era. The result of the work lacks a bit of character, but at least the rooms are clean, comfortable and relatively spacious. The main advantage of this hotel is its location, very central, close to the bazaar and the park. This is an opportunity to stay in good conditions in what was once the finest accommodation before decades of neglect.

The only recourse for those who would make Denau a stopover before entering Tajikistan on the way to Dushanbe. Ask to see the rooms and opt for those with WC and bathroom. As in all former Soviet hotels there is also a deluxe category, but this one becomes clearly overpaid, unless you absolutely want to have a small living room with TV in addition to the room. The other rooms are to be negotiated: they do not offer all this comfort. No breakfast, so aim for the chaikhanas.

The establishment seeks to play the top-of-the-range card, with a beautiful modern construction with large glass reinforcement. But you'll soon find out that Meridian is actually just the name of the Meridian. However, if you manage to negotiate the rates a little, the rooms remain liveable and comfortable although very basic (minimum equipment with TV and air conditioning). The services provided are not bad, but the staff are still more friendly than professional. Downtown is less than a mile away

Charming house with balconies and bedrooms upstairs around a small courtyard, all very well located, a stone's throw from Liab-i-Khaouz. Excellent welcome and everything you need for a comfortable stay even if the equipment of the rooms remains minimalist (television and air conditioning all the same). A small effort on the decoration would not harm, but overall it remains correct with regard to the price displayed. Some cheaper rooms, with separate and shared bathroom. Nazira can organize tours of the city and the surrounding area.

The hotel is conveniently located, just behind the Kalon Mosque and within walking distance of the imposing fortress wall. After the rather anonymous lobby, you will discover rooms with a more traditional decoration, rather well equipped, and for some (rare), with a view of the domes. The restaurant serves local and family cuisine, and breakfasts can be served in the large courtyard, which has a pool and an iwan where you can relax in the shade during the hottest hours of the day. Good management and friendly staff.

Ideal for microportefeuilles, provided you don't have to look at hygiene and comfort. The service is non-existent, the capricious and colorée warm water, but in any case bathrooms are more a museum of coexistence between insects and fungus than a place where you wash. At the time of our passage, the hotel no longer had a licence to accommodate tourists. But individuals can always try to negotiate and get the local fare, which is often done with the help of a taxi driver knowing the address.

The decor is neat and this old house in the Jewish quarter has been well renovated when it was converted into a B&B. Rooms and dining room are entirely decorated in the oriental style. The rooms overlook a small inner courtyard where it is good to relax and enjoy excellent cuisine. Despite the temptation to expand, the address has always remained on a human scale and is very pleasant to live at. A little further down the same street, at number 60, another Sasha & Son address offers slightly more luxurious rooms, in European style.

Like all the establishments of the Asia chain, the location is impeccable between the Liab-i-Khaouz and the dome of the hatters. It was feared that the presence of this hotel would distort the surrounding architecture, but in the end the result is not so catastrophic compared to other hotels that have recently appeared in the old centre, with a façade reminiscent of the shapes and colours of the city's madrasas. Nevertheless, and even if there are no criticisms to be made about the rooms, all this lacks a bit of charm and authenticity.

The closest hotel to the central basin, the Liab-i-Khaouz, is an upscale hotel with comfortable modern facilities and well kept rooms. Some rooms, in the luxury category, have a beautiful view of the basin. The others, even without the view, are also very livable and well equipped. Nice interior courtyard with iwan for breakfasts and dinners, also a dining room in the basement for rainy days. Western style luxury without being far from the city center.

The strength of this small establishment lies in its incomparable charm. The rooms are arranged in the old cells of the madrasah, around a cool and pleasant courtyard where a comforting tea is always waiting for you after a day of discovery of the city. The rooms and their furnishings give pride of place to tradition and handicrafts (including beautiful suzanis on the beds and walls), they are almost a journey through time, without neglecting great comfort. The staff is both very professional and very friendly.

The standard rooms do not shine through their space, but they are rather comfortable and are all equipped with a small functional bathroom. The hotel is well located opposite the dome of the chapeliers, close to Poy Kalon. Rooms 23, 24 and 27 overlook the minaret.

Member of the Malika chain, always with the same standard: the rooms are comfortable, soberly decorated and equipped with beautiful bathrooms. The location is impeccable, just a few meters from the Gur Emir. Some of the rooms have a nice view of the mausoleum. But in high season you should ask for the rooms at the back, to avoid the incessant ballet of the tourist buses. The rooftop terrace offers a magical view of the Gour Emir, ideal in the evening or at warmer hours, under the pleasant shade of the iwan.

As in all hotels of the Malika chain, you will find here impeccable services for affordable rates. All rooms are equipped with television and air conditioning. The rooms are distributed around a large, carefully tended courtyard that imitates the traditional Uzbek style. The restaurant serves traditional or European dishes to order. The only black spot is its off-centre location, which is rather underserved. However, when it comes to atmosphere, service and comfort, the Malika Classic is still preferred.

This B&B is located in the historical heart of Samarkand, on the site of an old caravanserai. The terrace offers a beautiful view of the Gur Emir. Olim is an ardent defender of traditional skills and makes a point of using local materials and techniques in the construction and decoration of his hotel. The hotel offers rooms (from single to quadruple) that can accommodate the needs of both individual travelers and small groups. A good value for money.

The hotel, built in 1963, has an astonishing interior architecture, with marble staircase, chandelier and murals that do not herald the comfort of the rooms but rather evoke the past greatness of the establishment, when Andijan was still the cotton capital of the valley. The rooms in this case are very simple, equipped with TV and air conditioning and all have a small bathroom, not very comfortable but functional. The building is central, facing the theatre and close to the bazaar.

The hotel is not located in the city centre, but you will have to go to Davron Toshev's shop on Khakikat Street. In the heart of mulberry and apricot plantations, which he uses to produce the paper on which he creates his miniatures, Davron has indeed set up a sublime hotel where you can also enter his workshop and watch the paper-making process and attend a miniature masterclass session. An extraordinary experience in a luxurious setting where Davron has left nothing to chance

A gigantic machine, this hotel, one of the oldest in Tashkent, built between 1974 and 1976 by Russian architects, is one of the symbols of the city, right in the centre, overlooking Amur Timur Square. For two decades its amazing architecture has welcomed all visitors to Uzbekistan, personalities such as Marcello Mastroiani, Pierre Richard or Sukarno, among others. The whole complex has been completely renovated with uneven results depending on the rooms, but, overall, it now offers a pleasant stay in the heart of the city.

We are faced with a dilemma: Hotel, does not correspond to our category "Good and cheap" (it is really not good but expensive), or to the category "Comfort or charm" (it is particularly uncomfortable and has absolutely no charm). However, this is the hotel to which you will be turning, because it is in the middle, and there are always rooms. As a good heir to Soviet hotels, it has not been renovated for years, hot water is a luxury, water short is not guaranteed, beds are at best uncomfortable, the worst broken and the whole is dirty. Not forgetting that the staff is kind as a prison door and the rates are high. In short, it dépannera you if you have no other solution.

The Rahnamo Hotel is clean, spacious and fairly new, but it is still a very expensive place to stay. Especially if you have not taken the precaution of booking through an agency and the tourist rates are not negotiated. Even then, the rates do not go below $100, which is far too expensive. But if you have spent a week wandering around Karakalpakstan or taken the time to visit Moynaq and the shores of the Aral Sea, you will certainly be happy to find real bedding and plenty of hot water. Sometimes it's priceless!

In 2011, the Arkonchi's management undertook works that removed all the traditional character of this former B&B to give it the greyish look of a hotel, where, moreover, the works were carried out rather hastily. It's a pity, because a lot of charm has been lost. Remains a dream location, making the old town accessible on foot day and night. Negotiate the rates, because it's still a little expensive for what it's become. The restaurant, on the other hand, always serves, on order, traditional or European dishes rather well concocted.

This memory of the Soviet era has been properly renovated and all rooms are now in addition to a painting and a new carpet, television and air conditioning. But they stay relatively small and bathrooms are not especially luxurious. For the same price range you can stay at the Hotel Fayz, further from the city centre on the airport road, but more comfortable.

Opened in April 2019, this boutique-hotel is ideally located between the circus and the Chorsu bazaar, easily identifiable by the sculpted panels representing the major cities along the Silk Road. Inside, nothing has been left to chance for the well-being of the visitors: large rooms, quality bedding, spacious bathrooms and a small garden maintained with care. The two comfortable yurts allow you to sleep with friends or family in unusual accommodation. The owner also owns two large apartments in the adjacent buildings.

Between the second and third domes, the facade of the Shahriston conceals a vast hotel arranged around a set of courtyards offering different atmospheres where the Orient still dominates, with interlacing and sculpted stucco motifs. The rooms offer an excellent level of comfort, space, and are complemented by a range of services included (hammam, fitness room) or extra (spa, beauty salon). At night the balconies are illuminated, offering an extra cachet and a magical Thousand and One Nights side. Impossible to be more in the heart of the old town.

The family-run hotel opened its doors in 2019. Built in the style of a traditional house with a large rectangular courtyard and a large convivial table in the middle. The location is great for accessing cultural visits without having to waste time in commuting. A small supermarket is located in the immediate vicinity (5 min walk). The rooms are cosy and offer a pleasant coolness in the heat of the day. Correct Wi-Fi and breakfast served according to the time of your awakening. We like it!

Caravan Saray is part of the family hotel complex in Minzifa. Located on the site of the ancient Eshoni Pir Medersa (17th-19th century), the hotel is steeped in history. The rooms are located in the old cells occupied by the students of the medersa. Now refurbished as a modern hotel with a large, fresh and green courtyard, Caravan Saray Minzifa offers one of the best services in the city. Among others, the tourist agency of the house, Met, organizes guided tours and tours on request.

Well located just outside the west gate, this hotel is set in all the characteristics of a youth hostel, rare in Uzbekistan, with dormitories and shady terrace where travelers are found. A nice choice for small budgets.

Opened since April 2017, and very well located in the heart of Ichan Kala, this small, nine-bedroom hotel is very nicely decorated with carpets and paintings from the region. Most of the exposed items can be purchased at very good prices.
