Costa Verde Transporte is a bus company which, as its name suggests, serves the Costa Verde as far as Paraty, via Mangaratiba and Angra dos Reis on the way. This reliable and serious bus company offers several departures daily, every day of the week to the Costa Verde resorts. However, remember to book in advance on the site, as the buses are very often full for these tourist destinations, especially at weekends and for the holidays. Buses, like many intercity busses, can be taken from the Rodoviaria Novo Rio.

To Curitiba, the Viação Graciosa company departs almost every hour for a 1-hour 40-minute journey (if direct), costing R$40. There are also numerous regional connections to Morretes, Joinville, Garuva, Guaratuva, Ponta grossa, Ponta do Paranà and Matinhos. For Joinville, 3 departures a day, from R$54. For Ponta Grossa, 1 departure per day, 68 R$. For Antonina, to Ilha do mel, Praia de Leste and Matinhos, departures from 6.30 a.m. on weekdays, every 2 hours or so. Journey costs from R$ 6.65.

The transport company Viaçao Aguia Branca provides connections from Porto Seguro to many destinations in the state of Bahia and other Brazilian states. As with other public transport companies, Porto Seguro's geographical location makes connections to the Brazilian metropolises long.

Rota Transportes is a bus company that serves Itacaré. This bus line provides connections between Itacaré and Ilheus. The two cities are mutually very well served. Indeed, whatever the tourist season, there are departures almost every hour between 6am and 8pm, in both directions. The journey takes about 2 hours. They also operate on the Itacaré-Porto Seguro line as well (one bus a day in both directions that leaves Itacaré at 1:20 pm and arrives at 9:20 pm, and leaves at 10 am from Porto Seguro)

Two buses of the Real Expresso company connect Lençóis to Salvador and Salvador to Lençois every day. They leave Lençois at 8:30am and 10:30pm and arrive at 3:50pm and 4:20am. From Salvador to Lençois, they leave at 1pm and 2:20am and arrive at 7:20pm and 4:40am. There are urban legends about "road cutters" on the night trips, but this seems to be a myth. If the night trip allows to avoid losing a day in Salvador or in the Chapadas, the arrival at 4am obliges to warn the pousada so that one can be welcomed.

Since 2011, Fretcar has been operating from Fortaleza to Jericoacoara. The bus departs from Rodoviária, passing along Beira Mar Avenue (opposite the Praiano Hotel) and the airport. The journey takes between 5 and 6 hours. On arrival in Jijoca, passengers take a seat in a converted truck, which will take them to Jeri. Departure times may vary.

From Fortaleza (from rodoviária): 7 a.m., 2.45 p.m. and 6 p.m. Between the rodoviária and the airport, allow a little over an hour. Between R$70 and R$115.

The Real Alagoas company runs the Maceió-Recife route by the sea via Maragogi.

Maragogi is 2.5 hours from either. Departures are from Maceió or Recife early in the morning.

The Real Alagoas company serves a dozen cities from Penedo (Alagoinhas, junqueiro, Luziapolis, Maceio, Pilar, Rancho Alegre, São Miguel Dos Campos, Satura, Sinambu, Teotonio vilela, Usina Terra Nova, Varrela). Travelers and locals mostly use the connection between Penedo and the capital and main city of the state to move between these two tourist places.

Maceio - Penedo: three to four departures per day via Coruripe or São Miguel dos Campos. The journey takes 3 hours 10 minutes, 4 hours 10 minutes or even 5 hours depending on the route.

From Porto Seguro via Trancoso and Arraial d'Ajuda (40 km - 3 hours transport), departures from the ferry, about twice a day (more in high season). When it rains too much, the connection is interrupted, the buses would get stuck in the mud. You might get stuck in Caraíva. The solution is to come back by combi, if you manage to form a small group.

This type of transport is relatively inaccurate in terms of punctuality. It's part of Brazilian folklore, but you need to allow for a wide time interval in case of a connection.

The bus company Goianésia operates from Goiânia and Brasília, respectively the capital of the state of Goiás and the federal capital of the country. The buses are generally comfortable and fairly modern. The Brasilia-Pirenópolis connection is the most interesting.

From Goiânia to Pirenópolis,

a daily bus at 5pm, 130 kilometres. The journey takes about 2 hours.

From Brasília to Pirenópolis,

about 5 buses daily at 7:30am, 10am, 12pm and 5pm. 3 hours of travel, 152 kilometers.

From Pirenópolis to Brasília: departures every day at 9:30am, 10:30am, 4pm and 7pm.

Buses to/from Gramado and Canela from Porto Alegre (station and airport afterwards).

You can go from Gramado to Canela directly by bus, from their respective bus stations. It costs between R$5 and R$10. 6 km distance.2 hours and R$ 30 or R$ 38 for theexecutivo. Departures are approximately every hour. For Florianopolis, count R$ 130 and 9:15 of travel (3 departures per day with Viasul). For São Paulo, change at Joinville, 280 R$ and 20 hours of travel. For Foz de Iguaçu, change at Caxia do Sul, count between 25 and 30 hours and 250 R$.

Saritur operates one round-trip per day to/from Belo Horizonte for Inhotim. Wednesday to Friday, departing 8.15am and returning 4.30pm (5.30pm on weekends and public holidays). No buses on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Advice. The bus is often full, so remember to book your tickets in advance. BH central station is conveniently located and within walking distance. Make sure you don't get stuck there and back. If the queue is too long at the ticket office, try your luck directly on the platform, paying your ticket to the driver.
