When the father of Islam in Tuan Gourou, South Africa, died in 1807, the movement was divided into two congregations and the house of Jan van Boughies was transformed into a prayer room. However, according to the legend, the difficult character of Jan would have pushed practitioners to enter the first mosque. The name of this one was changed and now refers to the palm tree that grows in front of its entrance.
