JOUR DE LA CONSTITUTION

The Constitution was approved by the Parliament of Georgia on 24 August 1995 and entered into force on 17 August 1995. The Constitution was last revised in 2018, establishing the election of the President by indirect ballot. A constitutional reform strengthens the powers of Parliament by changing the presidential voting system from proportional representation to proportional representation in the legislative branch. Supreme Court judges are appointed for life, thus strengthening the independence of the judiciary.
