SAINT-ANDRÉ

Saint Andrew is said to have introduced Christianity to the Caucasus. He is considered to be the founder of the Orthodox Church in Georgia. Saint Andrew is also referred to as the "first called" since he was the first to join Jesus. His feast day is so important in the country that he has a second one, December 13, which is not a holiday. According to the Orthodox Church, St. Andrew arrived in the region of Adjaria, Georgia, at the request of Mary. Since 2019, the same day is also dedicated to him.
