LAKE MALAWI SAILING MARATHON

Water sports event

Every year since 1984, dozens of sailboats take to the waters of Lake Malawi for a 6-stage, 500 km race. For a week, experienced helmsmen and ordinary yachtsmen are transformed, by force of circumstance, into freshwater sailors! The teams, from Africa and beyond, luff, tack and sail on the waves of this immense body of water, stopping off at famous beaches such as Cape Maclear, Senga Bay, Likoma and Chintheche.
