This small guesthouse offers 13 rooms and a restaurant. It is very simple, the rooms are basic, but have the merit of being very cheap. Some share a bathroom, others have a private one. The restaurant, all in bamboo, is surrounded by rice fields. Charming layout in a very rustic setting. It offers local culinary specialities and a good choice for lunch. Of course, you can enjoy the superb view.

This guesthouse, located opposite the Vat Xieng Chai, offers rooms with shared bathrooms, very basic but popular with backpackers. There is a pleasant rooftop terrace and a good, unpretentious restaurant on the ground floor. The restaurant's menu includes Lao, Thai and Western specialities. It is the oldest restaurant in the city and it is a good place to eat. Good juices and fruit shakes. Pleasant terrace when bathed by the sunset rays.

The eleven rooms of this wooden house are basic but suitable. With bathrooms (hot water), fan or air conditioning and television. The staff is nice and the restaurant is very popular with tourists. In a tiled wooden room, this restaurant offers Lao and western specialities: pizza, burgers, salads... Good choice of breakfasts. Very good coffees. The sunny terrace with a street side is nice.

This large and recent white building located on the banks of the Nam Song river offers small rooms, some with balcony and river view (these are by far the best!). They are all air-conditioned, clean and well kept, but very basic. The popularity of the establishment has led to an increase in prices. Beware of noise, think of earplugs if you are an early riser. Nice roof terrace on the third floor where you can watch the sunset.

On the riverside, behind the old post office (look out for the signs, you have to go down a small path), La Phoubane is a real bargain, with its restaurant under a large straw hut overlooking the Nam Song. The rooms are simple but functional and clean. Some of them are in small concrete houses with small private terrace. It is a real pleasure to wake up in a quiet place, around a breakfast while looking at the misty mountains on the other side of the waves. The Phubarn café offers a magnificent view of the river.

This guesthouse, located not far from Nam Phou, offers rooms that are small but impeccably kept. All rooms are air-conditioned and have a small TV. Rooms with a balcony overlooking the street are preferable as they are more airy (some rooms do not have windows). The warm welcome of the staff makes the stay pleasant. Its location close to the historical centre is ideal. One can only regret that prices have increased significantly, which makes its value for money much less attractive than before.
