Getting around by train Switzerland

The Swiss Travel System includes various means of transportation to get around Switzerland and the Swiss Federal Railways (CFF) are included in the Unireso tariff service: a single tariff for trains, buses, streetcars (TPG) and boats (SMGN) in the canton.

The Swiss Federal Railways (SBB), Schweizerische Bundesbahnen (SBB) in German, Ferrovie Federali Svizzere (FFS) in Italian, is the main Swiss railway company. It operates regional trains: RegioExpress, connecting small towns to large cities, InterCity and InterRegio connecting the main cities, and S-Bahh, intra-city trains. The network is linked to that of its neighbours and beyond: Germany, the Netherlands, Austria, Italy and France.
