Founded in 1947 by U.S. students, American Field Service organized an ambulance relief system for the wounded the Second World War. AFS continued its humanitarian mission on different fronts around the world, the Middle East, North Africa, Europe, India and Burma. Once peace has returned to these countries, these pioneers have participated in the voluntary reception of young people abroad. An international non-governmental, non-profit organization, the association constitutes a network of intercultural exchanges between countries.
