Part children's bookshop, part tearoom, part patisserie, this atypical boutique transports you into a warm atmosphere. Guided by the tempting scent of delicious pastries, you'll discover a selection of children's books as well as young local designers. There's also a dedicated children's area, where children can read and play, and a small workshop for the gourmet storytelling sessions Anne regularly organizes. A lovely place to visit with the whole family, where sharing, caring and joie de vivre are the order of the day.

LE BIBLIO CAFÉ

The Biblio Café run by Louise, Aude and Hugues, former booksellers, is one of those endearing places where friendship and openness towards others have a special meaning. Our hosts wanted to combine relaxation and reading, and this is a successful bet! All the books are new or second-hand and you can "taste" them on the spot with a coffee or a tea or take them away by buying them. On the shelves, art, humor, ecology and even erotic books, but also comics, mangas, games... all in a retro and bright decor. But nothing is set in stone here: there are also readings, acoustic Irish music, sex or knitting cafés to discuss, and here is the magic that takes place.

LA BAR À MINES

Caf philo et littraire

Lovers of very drunk parties, don't limit yourself to the primary meaning of this bar. You will have understood to which common expression we are referring, but before we stick one on, this is a place to admire the work of the pencil... in front of a pint or a glass of rum of course! Here Thomas and Sylvain have completed one of the pieces of the puzzle already in place in the Saint Hélier district: the world of comics. There were already a few stalls dedicated to the genre, but not of this type! Here the independent comics and the fanzine are enjoyed with a slice of sausage and a beer, because there are things that are more beautiful when you live them together! Enter the den and you will understand when the walls lined with comic book boards reveal themselves before you. Your visit will be punctuated by the discovery of a universe between art, literature and street art: a counter surmounted by a mechanical shooter straight out of the steampunk universe, toilets and an inner courtyard lined with frescoes and graffiti, a fanzinothèque and comic book library corner like a boudoir for the most absorbed, and works exhibited all around you. A program of autographs and artistic performances will brighten up your evenings. A concept to water body, heart and mind!

Café de la Pente, aka Le Pot commun, is a place full of alternative and local culture. It is an associative café that aims to involve the population in its actions and to allow as many people as possible to have access to cultural events thanks to a reasonable price. Nestled in a construction of the th century, in the pedestrian city centre, it has a terrible stamp, this coffee, with its stones, its exposed beams and its rustic furniture! And above all, in Jeanne, it is an institution in Bourg-en-Bresse. The establishment, created in 1957 by the mother of the current owner, saw the whole walking burgienne passing. Since its inception, the Raides Raides Group has been home to each of its passages in the city, as well as the accordionist Jean Corti.

On every Tuesday of the month, Jeanne also hosts a Philosophy Café.

What an incongruous name... But don't be mistaken... it is the place of relaxation and meetings that all the Pontecrucians were waiting for. Barely opened, it has conquered the hearts of the inhabitants of the region, for its excellent choice of books, but also for its delicious home-made pastries. Located in the former prison of the upper town, this bookshop café also offers exhibitions. It is the place to take a break after walking through the beautiful streets of this city of character, or after a hike along the Goyen.

The Café de la Table Ronde, founded in 1739, is one of the oldest cafés in France - second only to the Procope in Paris. A lively historical place, the Café de la Table Ronde is a place where people like to go to drink at wide hours, but also to eat on one of the most beautiful terraces of the city. It is the ideal place to enjoy a good Chartreusito, a mojito with Chartreuse. An address of tradition, lively and unmissable.

L’ÉCART

At the crossing of Jeanne-d'Arc Street and rue Jean-Bart is the Café L'Gap. Café-theatre or coffee-philosophy, no matter what, this coffee is left away and it is good to stop there for a drink.

In the heart of the ancient Latin quarter, this coffee has a decoration that attracts the curious with its retro atmosphere. Inside, there is a library composed of works of sociology, literature and even philosophy. Clients are usually students or people who come to read their newspapers and enjoy harmless conversations or more serious conversations. The coffee also makes lunch the midday with a dish of the day at an attractive price. In the evening, the place changes a little atmosphere and beer invites on the tables. In spite of everything, the Gap is a cultural café where conferences, theatre performances, exhibitions, openings… A place to discover absolutely!

LE FLESSELLES

This is a Nantes institution that multiplies the animated coffee version, the place of discussion and exchange around photography, science and sometimes offers some good little concerts from behind the faggots in the aperitif trip. The old billiard room is made available to everyone as a meeting room, so it is enough to reserve it in advance. Dish from day to noon and wide range of wines. Note that the first floor is also an exhibition room. Low and second bar for a cosy atmosphere. The original chandeliers Coca-Cola pride the boss. In the beautiful days, the outdoor terrace is particularly pleasant since the new pedestrian facilities and its semi-buried trees…

LES AUGUSTES

A precursor in the field of café-reading, Les Augustes has existed since 1997! Anticonformist and atypical, it remains an example in terms of cultural defense. Managed by salaried employees, but also by volunteers, the establishment offers books and newspapers. Evenings, mornings or afternoons with a theme around board games, literature, languages, society facts are organized all year long. A program is published every month. It is a precursory place in terms of solidarity and social economy. Both cultural and commercial, since it has a bistro side, the café tends to become a real place of cultural diffusion.

At the Café Citoyen, we only drink and eat organic food! It's THE place to be for good friends with a sense of solidarity and responsibility. Committed and alternative, this café is taken by storm by members of groups and associations who like to meet and debate. On the terrace or in the rooms, on the ground floor in front of the bar or upstairs among the books, customers can attend new events: concerts, exhibitions, comic book nights, etc. As for the food: you can have a local snack of course! It's a bit like being at home!

LA MUSETTE

Caf philo et littraire

A lot of cafe, quite a lot of restaurant, totally farm store and eventually showroom: La Musette is a polymorphic place that surprises and deters! Located in Guesnain, it is a perfect example of the overflowing vitality that inhabits this North that never ceases to surprise. An atypical place where it is good to live, to (re) settle down for a drink or to eat on the go, on canteen days (generally on Thursdays), with a unique, seasonal dish. An amazing address as we like them, to discover without delay and to frequent without stopping!

DE L'ENCRE À L'ÉCRAN

Caf philo et littraire

More than a bookshop, it is a meeting place. Created by a Belgian couple who fell in love with the Bigouden country, this café has added to the already rich commercial offer of the city. You will find all kinds of films, but with a strong preference for works related to cinema. In partnership with the cinema of Kérity, exchanges are proposed all year long. Thus you can attend a concert, meet an author or debate around a theme. The menu offers coffee and tea, organic wines, local and Belgian beers and snacks.

PLUME & CAFÉ

Caf philo et littraire

Plume et Café opened its doors on rue du Taur, inspired by Elodie's dream of opening a literary café. Surrounded by shelves containing some seven hundred novels, you can sit down for a snack, either in the cosy corner of the room, or on the terrace, surrounded by the frenzy of students and passers-by. Flip through the pages on the spot, or buy a second-hand book at a bargain price, to take the time to read it back home. A coworking space, occasional events twice a month (writing workshop, weaving or embroidery, cosmetics preparation...), so many moments of sharing in a lovingly planted space.

Y'A D'LA JOIE, CAFÉ PHILO

Caf philo et littraire

Can we be without it? Is autonomy the path of freedom? Does politics belong to the citizen? Do we necessarily need to be allowed to exist? Can we laugh with philosophy? is it useful to the city? The debate is open, thanks to the association of joy, which organizes a coffee philosophy every second Saturday of the month in a bar chartrain étrangement christened the Parisian Bar. Open and especially accessible to the general public, these philosophical, literary or artistic meetings are true meetings-dialogues on a given theme. A philosophy professor feeds the discussion of valuable clarifications and additional information, while everyone is invited to participate in the debate. At the end of each session, everyone can propose and vote on the theme of the next meeting. Association Y'of a joy thus embodies philosophy in the participatory approach which is its raison d'être, and gives life to these reflections, outside the ranks of the school.

LE 3 C

Caf philo et littraire

Le 3 C is a cultural and civic café run exclusively by volunteers. Prior to the creation of Le 3 C, Aix-en-Provence lacked a citizen-run space for debate, reflection, creative cooperation and the discovery of both amateur and professional artists. An alternative cultural space to the omnipresent consumerist commercial culture. At 3 C, associations can find their place within a collective approach. A snack bar featuring organic, local, artisanal and/or fair-trade produce is also available. In this convivial space, you can simply come for a drink and, above all, share, learn and create. Plus: workshops on Tuesdays (sketching), Thursdays (computing) and one Friday a month (writing). Every Tuesday of the month, there's a big meal to which everyone is invited. A great address to discover!
