Detail of the stay : Breathing the South (Immersion) - 9 days

Day 1: Mise en bouche

First day of discovery of this trip of immersion and sharing. We take the national 07 in direction of the south. We leave the asphalt quickly enough to go out of the beaten tracks. Destination of the day, Tsinjoarivo and its very particular history linked to the merina royalty. Installation in a bush lodge and first contacts with the local community. A unique experience.

Day 2: Local immersion in Tsinjoarivo

Real immersion in this welcoming community. You will share the daily life of these welcoming and smiling people. Normal daily tasks but oh so rich in sharing and experience. Visit of historical and natural sites in the process.

Day 3: The city of water and its riches

We leave the bush of the region of Ambatolampy and we join the heights of Antsirabe. Visit along the way of traditional village and their culture. Visit of the city of water or the Malagasy vichy, Old place of holiday during the colonization. Visit of the local market and its rich colors. Installation.

Day 4: En terre Betsileo

As on day 2, sharing and immersive discovery within the village community of Sandrandahy. Departure from Antsirabe after breakfast and start of a day full of colors and experience. In-depth visit of the village and its surroundings and meeting with the local community. This region is different, we are now among the Betsileo, people of workers and big consumers of traditional rum.

Day 5: Betsileo Experience

In the morning, immersion in the village community and its customs, daily activities and knowledge sharing in the fields. Participation in the daily tasks with your hosts. Local lunch and return on the road to Fianarantsoa. Visit of the old town with the small guides of the cooperating association.

Day 6: South Portal

Day of changeover towards the south of the island. We leave the mountainous heights of the highlands to go down little by little towards the south. The landscape changes as well as the population, always Malagasy but another ethnic group. Here, we meet the baras and their pastoral culture. Visit by the colorful market of Ambalavao and the community reserve of Anjà which shelters the first lemurs of the trip. Passage by the plateau of Ihorombe in the afternoon, installation.

Day 7: Heading south

During this day of connection towards the end of this journey, we have in option to make the visit of the national park of Isalo before undertaking the road. We change completely of landscape and culture. We leave the territory of the bara for that of the Antandroy and Vezo. Arrival at Saint Augustin and installation, first meeting with the community that welcomes you. Visit of this small vezo fishermen village lost in the south of the main city of Toliara.

Day 8: Day in Vezo land

Day of discovery of the bay of Saint Augustine in all its aspects, historical, cultural, natural and especially human. With a unique history, the small bay is home to a small community of people who live off what the sea and the land bring them. Immersion in the daily life of this very welcoming population.

Day 9: Taste of salt and scent of the sea

Last day of this immersive discovery in the south. You will meet the doyens and guardians of the Vezo culture. We will show you how to build traditional dugout canoes and we will finish with a small folkloric animation to close this wonderful human adventure.
