Stay : The sources of the Canal du Midi: in the heart of the Montagne Noire, where it all begins

Discover the sources of the Canal du Midi, the artificial feeding network of the Royal Canal of Languedoc, classified as World Heritage by UNESCO in 1996. You can discover the rigole de la Montagne from the Alzeau intake in Arfons to the Cammazes through the Lampy basin. This artificial stream winds through the forest of Ramondens and the undergrowth of the Montagne Noire. This setting offers you a breath of fresh air in a bucolic environment. It ends its course in Cammazes thanks to the Vauban arch. The channel flows into the Laudot, the stream that fills the lake of Saint-Ferréol. The water continues its course from there to the second channel built by Riquet: the channel of the Plain. It drains the water of Riquet's network from Pont Crouzet in Sorèze, to the Naurouze threshold, passing through Revel and the plain of Saint-Felix Lauragais. A bit of adrenaline? Cross the Vauban vault on foot and stroll along these gullies
