Steps: Lima

International arrivals are made at Jorge-Chávez airport in Lima. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel. This capital has been neglected by visitors, who are eager to resume another flight to a future Peruvian city. What a pity! Because this city has many surprises in store... In particular its pretty colonial district: Barranco, or the "Malecon" which allows you to stroll in the green spaces bordering the cliff, all with a view of the Pacific Ocean. It is also pleasant to go for a walk in the Miraflores district. You can visit the pyramid of Huaca Pucllana, more than 1,600 years old. In the evening it is illuminated, making it even more beautiful. Night in Lima

After a small 30-minute meeting, the 1h30 excursion can begin. On board the boat, presentation of the island of San Lorenzo, which is located off Lima, then arrived at the heart of a colony of several hundred sea lions. Time to take the plunge! These animals are very curious and will gladly come to play or jump next to you. Return to the port at 1pm, then back to the centre of Lima by taxi. Visit of the historic centre classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site: Archbishop's Palace, Government Palace, the unmissable San Francisco Monastery and its catacombs, as well as the famous wooden balconies typical of the colonial period in Lima, and walk along the Plaza de Armas. Warning: check before departure to find out if the whales are indeed migrating. Take a plane to the Piura (1h40 flight time). Once in Piura, there are two ways to get to Mancora: either take a taxi or find a place in a "colectivo" (collective taxi, cheaper than a normal taxi). Journey of about 3 hours. In Mancora, many small bungalows by the beach. Stroll on the long stretches of sand, the most beautiful beaches of Peru. A real paradise for surfers or idleness enthusiasts. You can reach the small fishing village of Los Organos on foot, from the beach and return by motorcycle taxi. And keep an eye out for whales jumping off the coast. Night in Mancora

Day 4: Hello whales

Steps: Mancora, El Ñuro

Departure at dawn for an excursion (from 5 years old) in the open sea. At this time of year, humpback whales come to the north coast of Peru to breed and raise their young. During whale watching, it is likely to see these magnificent cetaceans swimming, jumping out of the water, diving into the depths in groups. It is also possible to see the first games of the youngest, under the watchful eye of their imposing mother. A magical moment to share with the family. It is not uncommon to encounter dolphins and sea lions, and with a little luck other creatures. In the afternoon, snorkel with green turtles in Ñuro (10 min drive by colectivo or motorcycle taxi). Night in Mancora

Day 5: Family fishing trip

Steps: Piura

Beginning of the day before sunrise, to try fishing on the high seas. The northern coast of Peru is an excellent spot for this type of fishing. Two currents meet: the cold Humboldt current and the "El Niño" current. This explains the presence of impressive marine species such as striped marlin, black marlin, yellowfin tuna and wahoo. It is on these coasts that the world fishing record was set in the 1950s: a black marlin weighing over 700 kg! This is really a form of ecotourism: this type of fishing is carried out while respecting the minimum catch sizes. The goal is to catch beautiful fish and then release them. After 14h, return to the port then return to Piura (taxi or colectivo) then return flight.
