The Fork is the local alternative to the restaurants of the two local hotels (Twitter and Ko-Sa). To get there, ask the locals in the small fishing village of Ampenyi for directions. Set back from the main road, the large, well-ventilated house is the ideal place to enjoy fufu, banku and jollof rice at good prices and prepared in the most authentic tradition. The place is often empty, giving an impression of abandonment, yet it works well and the welcome is with a smile. Perfect to get off the beaten track a bit.

Vegetarians, vegans, but also gourmets of all kinds, here is one of the best addresses in the city. This tiny canteen was opened by a rasta about ten years ago and has gradually made a name for itself in town. Not to be missed, on Victoria Road (in front of the Orange Beach Resort), don't confuse it with its neighbor which also has Rasta colors. The Emperor Ital Joint serves, as its name suggests, Ital cuisine (vegan diet of the rasta). The soy kebabs would fool the most discerning carnivore! Nice atmosphere. Smile.

Located not far from the Emperor Ital Joint, opposite the Orange Beach Resort, New Life Food & Drinks is an alternative to the vegetarian restaurant. With its green storefront advertising all the dishes and beverages available inside, it's not long before you step through the portico and sit down on its small, shaded terrace. From pasta and rice dishes to kebabs and crêpes, all appetites and tastes should be satisfied here. Beware, though, that portions are copious. A word of advice: finish your first plate before moving on to the next!

With its small tropical oasis opening onto Butre beach (just past The Hideout lodge coming from the village), the Green Zion Garden has all the makings of a small paradise. Amid the lush vegetation, a few clean, well-appointed cabins for sleeping, a space for the evening log fire, and a few tables scattered here and there, in the shade of the trees, to enjoy the dishes of the chef and proprietor of the place, the friendly Ellis. On the menu are delicious "ital" dishes, otherwise known as vegan in Rasta terminology. An address that owes everything to its creator!

Opened in 2013 by a local family, the Summeryard is a real little tropical paradise where you'd love to spend a few days... And just as well: the place has a few simple, comfortable rooms. But the main reason for visiting is to refresh yourself with fresh juices and natural smoothies. Originally conceived as a café, it has since evolved into a vegetarian restaurant!
