The currency is the United Arab Emirates dirham (AED), divided into 100 fils. The cost of living in Dubai is about 20% higher than in a major European city, except for car rentals, which are cheaper. Hotel prices vary depending on the season and promotions. In the low season, you can find luxury hotels that offer excellent value for money. You can eat well and cheaply in Chinese, Indian and Pakistani restaurants. Very good and expensive in the big hotels.
