Aix-en-Provence's new bus station features twenty platforms and architecture by Jean-Marie Duthilleul, who also designed the Aix TGV station. A real success! Accessible to all, close to downtown and the freeway. Departures and arrivals are to nearby towns and villages, the most important line being, of course, the one linking Aix to Marseille: a bus every 5 min at rush hour! The Conseil départemental's Cartreize (Car 13) network also serves Aubagne, La Ciotat, Vitrolles, Martigues, Arles and Salon-de-Provence. A fast, economical way to get around, with connections all day long. A little cramped at its site in the center of Aix, it has recently been relieved of certain lines to the P+r exchange hub at Plan d'Aillane in Les Milles (lines 40 and 53 to Aix TGV and Marseille bus station...), as well as to platforms at the P+r Krypton (access via line 7 platform no. 4). It should be noted that access to the "grande accessibilité" bus, reserved for people with reduced mobility, which leaves every hour for Marseille, has just been transferred in 2017 to a platform in the Krypton car park-and-ride facility.
