Gilbert Portanier, the last ceramist of Vallauris' golden age, arrived in 1948 after meeting Picasso. His fascination with decoration and color manifested itself in unique and remarkable pieces, earning him the nickname "magician of color" at an exhibition at the Musée de Sèvres. The astonishing shapes of his creations add to their singularity. Gilbert Portanier, a brilliant colorist, is an artist to be discovered for his talent and artistic heritage.

Calogero (Claude) Aïello, born in Italy into a family of potters, moved to Vallauris in 1974 and founded a workshop for functional and decorative pottery. Collaborating with young designers to enhance the value of local craft heritage, he earned the nickname of "designer ceramist". His meeting with Ronan Bouroullec marked a turning point, leading to collaborations with Laurent Nicolas and Lehanneur. His workshop has been awarded the "Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant" label.

Dishes, plates, cups, teapots, salt shakers, vases, earrings... Here you'll find a wide range of stoneware objects by Joséphine Piffaretti, a former scientist who trained at the Beaux Arts de Céramique in Vallauris. Her style: pure shapes, soft colors and graphic designs. Her creations can be found online and in her studio, in the former stables of the Château des Comtes de Grasse. Modeling and pottery courses are also available on reservation, for individuals, families or small groups.

Opened in 2014, Galerie du Faune in Antibes has become a must for art lovers. It offers an artistic experience combining paintings, sculptures, ceramics and photographs by talented artists. Located close to the historic ramparts, it attracts cosmopolitan visitors enchanted by the harmony of the works on display. With resident artists such as CEGEDE and some fifteen other exhibitors, the gallery shares its passion for art in all its forms, from inks by CEGEDE to steel sculptures, engravings and ceramics by SETCH. It's the promise of a real immersion in a creative world.
