Braderie brocante et puce

Once a camel market, Bab Khmiss is now a large flea market. Its name means "Thursday's door", because it is only on this day that the bargain hunters could have a good time. The second-hand dealers and the other emptying of attics can henceforth settle all the week, close to the hard shops and some more specialized craftsmen (brassware, pottery, joinery). Thursdays are still a favourite day, as well as Sundays, because more people come to buy and look around.

Sales and auction rooms

The auction is the carpet auction. Join the two big stone pots that are enthroned on the covered square of the carpet souk, this is where it all happens and the show is worth the detour. The souk, until then serene, is filled with the cries of a man who gesticulates and takes the passers-by to task, pointing to the carpets lying on the ground that he sells wholesale to traders. If you have a lot of patience and a solid knowledge of Moroccan carpets, the Berber auction can be a very good deal.
