HÔTEL MUSANTO
Read moreHere is a small hotel perfectly kept, slightly set back, quiet, which offers a good value for money. The old building (on one floor) gives a certain charm to the place. There are 23 rooms of different categories, including 4 suites with a view of the lake. But the "luxury" rooms with balcony are quite sufficient. Airy and bright, they are equipped with mosquito nets and have a bathroom. A small garden, tables and umbrellas are there to relax, and a bar-restaurant pleasantly completes the set.
EMERAUDE KIVU RESORT
Read moreSince 2013, this French-speaking hotel has maintained its offer with comfortable, well-kept rooms with a balcony overlooking the lake. Dawn and dusk are lulled by the song of the fishermen. Mosquito net, TV and satellite channels in all rooms. The restaurant on the terrace, with its rustic charm, also offers a fascinating landscape and a very pleasant atmosphere. The Emerald organizes visits to the Bugarama springs, Nyungwe Park, and boat tours, especially to the islands of Gihaya and Ireba.
NYUNGWE TOP VIEW HILL HOTEL
Read moreA nice place to relax after a day of exploration in the Nyungwe forest. Situated on top of a hill overlooking a village, this hotel consists of a dozen houses, all with a fireplace and a balcony with a magnificent view of the national park, the tea plantations, and Lake Kivu in the distance. The ensemble is a little dated, but the setting is unbeatable. A simple and uncluttered welcome. Buffet meal in the evening under an impressive traditional-style straw hut.
RUSHEL KIVU RESORT
Read moreAfter about ten kilometers and one hour of dirt road from the main road at Kayove (to be covered by 4WD or motorcycle cab), we arrive on the shores of Lake Kivu, in an idyllic setting. The Rushel Kivu Resort, a small seaside resort in itself, nestled between palm trees and a vast coffee plantation, gives the feeling of being isolated from the world. Serenity, calm and beauty characterize the place. Restaurant on site and many activities: swimming, beach volleyball, canoeing, walking, visit to the coffee washing station of Kinunu.
NYUNGWE NZIZA ECO-LODGE
Read moreLocated east of Nyungwe, this lodge has an exceptional view of the forest and this is its main asset. It offers 2 safari tents, equipped with mattresses, 6 rooms and 6 wooden chalets (with bathroom and fireplace), as well as a camping area. Basic comfort. There is also an "à la carte" mountain lodge style restaurant. The lodge has real potential, but it deserves a lot of improvement. Expansion work is planned for a total of 20 cottages and a second panoramic restaurant.
CORMORAN LODGE
Read moreThis lodge has five cottages made of wood and natural materials, with overhanging balconies and a breathtaking view of the lake and its islands. The rooms are "natural" and offer a correct comfort. It is the setting that is essential. The bar-restaurant has a panoramic terrace. One comes here at least for lunch or for the sunset to enjoy a cold beer. The service can sometimes seem long, but the landscape is so beautiful, the atmosphere so peaceful, that you can wait without any difficulty. Nice garden, extended by a small beach.
