In a pop-art, baroque chic style, the Burgundy Restaurant. To set the tone, clocks of all shapes or a wall lined with black and white photos of faces. The dishes are extremely well presented and good, even if the menu looks classic. Lots of local wines and fresh fish, caught the same day in Hermanus. Reservations are recommended, especially for a table on the terrace. Please note that the Burgundy works closely with Creation wines,an estate located in the heights of Hermanus. Fish and seafood to the fore in this beautiful residence dating back to 1860, one of the oldest in the city. The Belgian chef prepares excellent fish soups, fried mussels, tartar accompanied by fried squid and a curry lamb for carnivores. The dishes are served on the pleasant terrace decorated with fishing nets.

On Cliff Street, facing the sea, Coffee on the Rocks is a friendly family restaurant with a superb balcony overlooking the ocean. While sipping a coffee or reveling in your breakfast, you can see the whales in season. On the menu: fresh salads, sandwiches filled with homemade bread and local delicacies. The coffee is very good. Inside, the decoration seems to be frozen in time, an old wooden piano on one side, soft and chequered period armchairs, dishes from yesteryear, like the framed photos on the wall.

The kitchen is run by husband and wife team Candy and Daniel Bradley, hence Cand's Kitchen. They are both chefs and passionate about what they do. We discover their selection of freshly baked quiches, cakes and salads that are purely and simply divine. A few dishes on the slate for lunch, a buffet for those who wish to take their meal away or an excellent breakfast for the early birds. Inside, it's cosy and the walls are powder pink. A truly simple and gourmet stopover that is a real treat.

A little cocoon of nature. As soon as you walk through the door of Thyme at Rosemary, the setting is soothing. In the back is a beautiful flowered garden with a shaded patio, where it is nice to eat in the cool. Inside, there are two rooms, a dark front room and a bright back room with a large bay window overlooking the lush garden. The tables are nicely set with beige lace doilies. The menu is local and refined, the plates are fresh and colorful. As for the welcome, it is discreet and warm. A delicious moment.

The adventure of this restaurant began in the 2000s, it was one of the best restaurants in Swellendam. The chefs, Nina and Salvatore, aim to make La Sosta an even better restaurant than it was. The three menus, one meat-based, one fish-based and one vegetarian, change with the seasons. To complete these dishes, the establishment offers a complete wine list based on local selections, but also imported wines from Italy that go perfectly with dishes with Italian flavours.

This is a fine restaurant in Swellendam. The owner and chef is French, his wife is South African and works in the dining room; together, they make an excellent tandem. The food is excellent and authentic, using local produce. A very good place to try springbok, or perhaps try for the first time the excellent ostrich or kudu meat. The service is very attentive. The room is picturesque and cosy, reminiscent of a Norman inn with its old-fashioned decor.

Ikigai means a reason to be. It is a Japanese concept, a haven of peace in a pastel and wooded atmosphere. You place your order at the bar and you can choose to sit on the small terrace at the front of the establishment or in the cosy room. On the menu: very good breakfasts, perfectly cooked eggs Benedict, healthy sandwiches, you choose your bread, lattes for a gentle wake-up call and delicious milkshakes. The waitresses are sweet and smiling, we feel good in this cocoon of quietness.

In this beautiful house, in a subdued atmosphere, with candlelight on each table, Field And Fork offers you a menu composed of three dishes and a la carte dishes. Here, the menu changes every month, according to the season's products. The combinations are refined and original. The chef dares a starter with strawberries, Roquefort cheese, parma ham and caramelized almonds... It's delicious! The establishment is located in the heart of the city, right next to the tourist office. An excellent South African cuisine, as they know how to do so well.
