PARQUE PROVINCIAL DE ISCHIGUALASTO - VALLE DE LA LUNA
Read moreWe also call the park of Ischigualasto (not always easy to pronounce), "moon Valley", which is actually the nickname given to Valle Pintado. When you look at this valley, you will acknowledge that it is talking about what is currently known as the Moon. The park is of great scientific importance because it is one of the only places in the world where all stages of the triassic era are represented (between 248 and 206 million years). The scientific exploitation of the park depends on the University of San Juan, which regularly invites researchers from all over the world to carry out excavations.
The park is a large valley bordered by two mountain ranges, Cerro Colorado and Los Rastros.
The classic course is to discover the famous rock formations and named according to their appearance (or depending on the appearance of your imagination): a submarine (El Submarino), a mushroom (El Hongo), a field of perfect curves (La Cancha de bochas) and the beautiful and surreal vallée valley (Valle Pintado).
