Crafts to discover Central

Visit the glass factory and its showroom. Prices are set by the state, but some items with minor defects are sold out. Blown glass features colored marbling (green, red, blue) or inlays of gold or silver leaf. Here you'll find bottles, vases, eggs and animals, as well as a crystal department with glasses and decanters. Mdina Glass, the largest local producer of blown glass, also has stores in Valletta, Bugibba and the ferry terminal (Valletta Waterfront). Stores also in Mdina and Gozo (Victoria).

If you want to know everything about the art of glass blowing and glass sculpture, a visit to Ta'Qali is a must. After passing by the glass factory of Mdina Glass, the first producer of handmade glass in the Maltese archipelago, you can also visit this other glass factory, a competitor of the previous one. At Mtarfa Glass, the owner has been blowing glass since the 1970s and you will have the opportunity to admire him at work. The place also has its own shop and if you are interested in an object, it can be delivered to you.
