Read moreThe Saint Lucia Tower was built in 1610 under the reign of Alof de Wignacourt. Built according to the plans of the son of Gerolamo Cassar, Vittorio, it serves, four years later, to postpone a last Turkish attack.
Today, its heroic past forgotten, it now belongs to the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, which established the National Aquaculture Centre. On site, a large aquatic farm (closed to the public).
MAMO TOWER
Read moreThis privately-built tower is characterized by its St. Andrew's cross shape. Its central room is particularly beautiful. A Punic tomb from the 3rdcentury B.C. was discovered while excavating the surrounding ditch in the rock. Right next door stands the small chapel of Saint-Gaëtan, dating from 1657. The first church dedicated to this saint (a16th-century Italian priest) in the archipelago, it was traditionally much frequented by local fishermen.
